Authentic village life, local homestays, stunning landscapes and Naxi culture
Did you know that the Dongba, the Naxi people's written language, is the only living pictograph writing system left in the world? Take the opportunity to meet the Naxi and Yi people, one of the many minority peoples living in Yunnan with their own traditions and culture.Guided by Naxi hosts, you’ll stay in peaceful homestays, visit local homes, and join in everyday activities that reveal the rhythms of village life. From hiking through pristine forests to enjoying home-cooked meals with families, this experience combines stunning landscapes with intimate cultural encounters.Ideal for curious travellers, nature lovers, and those seeking an authentic cultural escape, this journey offers a rare glimpse into rural Yunnan that large tours often miss — a true connection to the people and traditions of the mountains. What to ExpectExplore quiet Naxi villages, farmland, and fruit orchards on scenic walks and drivesLearn about Naxi, Yi, and Tibetan cultures through homestays and guided visitsHike in pristine forests with views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Haba Snow MountainParticipate in local farm work and enjoy authentic meals prepared with villagersSpend the night in traditional homestay or guesthouse for a genuine local experienceGood to KnowWalks of up to 2 hours over uneven terrain; some steep sections require basic fitnessAccommodation is simple and comfortable, emphasising authenticity over luxuryVisits include Tibetan temples and Yi villages, providing cultural insights and personal interactionsActivities may be adjusted for weather conditions

Meet your host
Lijiang Xintuo Ecotourism is a small, community-run company founded by Lily, a Naxi local from Yunnan. After more than 10 years working as a tour guide across China, she returned home to Lijiang with the hope of sharing her hometown and culture with travellers in a more meaningful way.
Lily and her local guides lead trips beyond the busy parts of Lijiang to quieter villages and landscapes. With her local roots and connections, Lily brings travellers to places that remain largely untouched by mass tourism. Through these journeys, she hopes to help preserve the traditions and way of life of Yunnan’s local communities while creating opportunities for them to benefit from tourism.
