Review Body: So many wonderful things to say about the 3-hr Intoduction to Watchmaking class that we attended. With one of us being mechanically inclined and the other being somewhat clumsy, Michael was incredibly agile and made sure that both of us felt confident in our abilities and had a fantastic time! His sense of humor, special attention to the lineage of timekeeping technology, precision equipment, thorough explanations, and overall joy for watches and watchmaking made the experience a must-do for any and all travelers to Singapore. If you have even a remote interest in how things work or what makes a watch tick, this is an opportunity to take a home a unique memento to capture an equality unique experience. And a special thank you to Michael and Phyllis for going above and beyond for a special occasion! :)

Review Body: I attended an introduction to Swiss watchmaking yesterday , and it completely exceeded my expectations. The class covered the inner movements of a watch, and we got hands-on experience assembling and disassembling the parts ourselves. The level of finesse required is honestly profound — it gave me a whole new appreciation for what goes into a single timepiece.
Michael, our Swiss master atelier, made the entire session both fun and genuinely fascinating. His expertise was obvious, but what stood out most was how approachable and engaging he made something so technical.
We even left with our own certificates and the actual movement we assembled in class, which was such a nice touch. This experience has definitely piqued my interest in their other classes — I'll be back for more

Review Body: Brilliant experience learning about watch making and appreciating the timeless mechanical movement! It was amazing to learn about the history of time telling and the intricacies behind a movement in a delightful span of three hours. Michael Jimmy and Phyllis are very welcoming and generous in sharing their knowledge and experiences. We couldnt have had a better spent Sunday. The workshop was pretty and comfortable, the people were most warm and genuine :) I wish I could make my own wearable watch in its entirely from scratch, and I think they do have such a course. So.. Looking forward to the next time!

Review Body: Brought my partner for his birthday and he had a great time at IHT as a watch enthusiast!
Michael is very knowledgeable and passionate and it was a fascinating session. I got a glimpse of the history behind watchmaking in such an engaging way and definitely see why horology is so interesting. It was especially fun getting our hands on disassembling and reassembling our very own mechanical movement to take home.
We were also pleasantly surprised with some birthday hospitality from IHT's team. Thank you for the delicious ice cream cake!
Thank you IHT for the amazing time!

Michael was, of course, very knowledgeable and gave us a brief history of how watchmaking came about at the start of the class. Got to assemble our own mechanical movement to take home as well. Review Body: It was an amazing experience with a bit of history, theory, and a lot of hands on activities. Taking apart the watch was rather easy, but putting it back together was quite nerve wrecking especially when handing the tiny screws… Michael was a very engaging, patient and helpful teacher. Much more appreciation for watches now!

Review Body: The hands-on session is really fun where I get to dismantle the watch movement, understand the engineering behind each parts and reassemble it back. Instructions were clear for each steps and we get to bring back the watch movement which we worked on which is really cool. Fun session even if you go alone

Assemble your own working mechanical movement in this one-of-a-kind workshop
This is Singapore's only watchmaking masterclass led by a Master Swiss Watchmaker, Michael, with over 30 years of experience (including 16 years at Audemars Piguet!). Perfect for date nights, a solo activity, or a shared experience with Dad!In this 3-hour workshop, Michael will share his expertise and stories of his own experiences from his decades of watchmaking. You’ll then sit at a proper mini watchmaker’s bench and assemble a working mechanical movement - the tiny engine that makes a watch tick using gears and springs instead of a battery (or think of it like the heart beat of a watch!). You’ll get to handle authentic tools, see how each part fits together, and bring your watch movement to life with your own hands. At the end, you’ll take it home with you to admire and tinker with. You can even use it to build your own watch someday - ask your hosts for more details!Whether you arrive as a complete beginner or a casual admirer of watches, Michael’s thoughtful hospitality and hands-on guidance makes the experience welcoming and unintimidating. You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for fine mechanics, and very likely, a newfound love for what goes on beneath the dial. What to ExpectIntro to the world of Swiss watchmaking and the key milestones in its historyStep-by-step guidance to assemble your very own mechanical watch movementWork with professional tools at a proper mini watchmaker’s benchTest your assembled movement using a timegrapherTake home your functioning mechanical watch movement and a certificate of participationSmall class sizes for a personalised experienceGood to KnowAll tools and components are provided—just bring your curiosity! No experience needed and suitable for ages 13 and upThe session runs for about 3 hoursWhile you’ll take home your own mechanical watch movement, post-class support or servicing isn’t includedBe prepared to use fine tools and work with small, delicate parts—it’s fiddly but fun!

Michael Dubs and Phyllis Dubs-Lye started their business in 2024 with a simple goal—to make traditional watchmaking more accessible and appreciated by today’s learners and collectors. Michael, a real Swiss Master Watchmaker with over 30 years of experience (including 16 years at Audemars Piguet!), had always wanted to share the art and precision of horology with others, and together, they’ve built something that does just that. They're focused on keeping classes affordable while still keeping the business going. Looking ahead, they hope to support underserved communities and show young people there’s more than one path to success. It’s not just about watches for them—it’s about sharing skills, opening doors, and building a community where everyone feels welcome to learn.
