Sapa Tribal Trekking
It was during one of Giang’s treks that she met Katie (who set up their website). Katie & her husband Tom, then a newly married 30-year-old couple, spent several days trekking with Giang. Katie and Giang became very close friends and remain so ever since. It was a result of that friendship that Sapa Tribal Trekking was set up and is what it is today.
By booking with Sapa Tribal Trekking, you are giving back to the local H’mong guides and their community, giving them opportunities to earn a fair wage, in a region where 70% of the population is below the poverty line.

This trek was stunning in all respects. Our guide lead my wife and I through spectacular scenery with rice paddy terraces, water buffalo, and a variety of traditional buildings. It wasn't too strenuous (good thing at our age!) though a walking pole may help after rain. Our guide's descriptions of various aspects of traditional life there were most interesting, as was seeing crafts such as cloth-dyeing for real. The homestay was particularly enjoyable, we couldn't have felt more welcome. Encountering other trekkers at times did not detract, and is probably inevitable on a moderate route such as ours.
Very grateful. Would highly recommend this.

The highlight of our recent trip to Vietnam, was the time spent in the most beautiful mountainous area of SaPa. We were so lucky to have Giang as our guide on each of the two single day hikes. Not only was she totally professional, knowledgeable and took care of us, but she's also great fun. The hikes were tailor made so that on the first day we climbed steep terrain to be rewarded with fabulous mountain vistas. Day two took us down into the valley among the rice terraces and through small, authentic villages where we stopped in a local house for a delicious lunch. We loved the entire experience and would wholeheartedly recommend SaPa Tribal Trekking!

We had the 2 days 1 night tour. Our local guide (black Hmong) was very nice, spoke good english and explainded us alot about the region. We didnt saw that many tourists on our path. Included meals were good and large. For the night stay we were sleeping at Guiang cousin home with 2 other couples and had a very time there. Guiang is the manager of this guided tour company and told us again a lot about the region during the dinner. She was helpfull and caring.
We just contacted her the night before our arrival while on the sleeping bus from cat ba island and was fast to answer despite our late contact.
I would strongly recommend to book a tour with sapa tribal treking. We had an amazing time.

A friend and I did the 2-day, 1-night trek with Giang and had a great time. Giang is wonderful and welcoming. She knows so much about Sapa and was able to teach us about the plants along the trail. I will say you should probably wear boots, to be on the safe side. On the first day we had a delicious lunch at her cousin's home and then stayed the night at another one of her cousin's homestays. The homestay was beautiful and the dinner and company were delightful. The next morning Giang's husband finished the trek with us and returned us to Sapa. The views are spectacular and the guides are extremely professional. I would definitely recommend you include this experience in your Sapa planning.

Sapa is beautiful! The town is cool, but the surrounding area is what you want to see. And who better to see it with than a local? Zo was our guide and what a lovely human. Not only did she hike half of it with her baby boy on her back, but she spoke great English, was very knowledgeable and wanted to teach us a lot, and was down to get dirty with us (lots of mud). The homestay was beautiful and the food was tasty. (Lunch and dinner are similar). All the people we met, Chan and Giang, were just as great as Zo (as well as the other hikers that stayed at the homestay). The other locals tended to try to sell you stuff, especially if they helped you, so just a heads up.
Just an FYI, we wore oooold sneakers with pretty bad tread and we were fine. We definitely slipped in mud a few times, but nothing a laugh won't fix. It was fairly sunny for us though and we're young and athletic so keep that in mind when considering shoewear.
