Why go
  • Here you can experience the unique culture and way of life of the ethnic tribes of Vietnam, including the H'mong, Dao, and Tay communities, which have their own distinct traditions, language, and customs.
  • You can also trek through some of the most breathtaking scenery in Vietnam, including the rice terraces and mountainous landscapes unique to this region.
What to do or see here

The main highlight is to explore rice terraces & learn hill tribe culture - you can do a day trek or overnight homestay (recommended!). Adventurers can scale Vietnam's highest peak!

Best Time to Go

Go in dry season - either March-May for vibrant green rice terraces or Sept-Nov for golden harvest views. Both periods aren't too hot, with Sept-Nov being the best for photography.

Who is it for?

It's great for travellers who love local culture and supporting local communities. Hikers will find diverse trails, including a challenge on Vietnam's highest peak, Mt Fansipan.

Top Tips

Sapa is touristy, but you can avoid the crowds. Choose a homestay outside town or hire a private guide for less-traveled trails. Skip Cat Cat village for a quieter experience.
