Review Body: Went on a morning walk with Haji and really enjoyed it. The trail is quite flat and beginner-friendly, so it’s an easy way to get closer to nature without needing to be an experienced hiker.
I thought it would just be a clear trail, but Haji took me a little deeper into the forest too. There aren’t paved paths, but honestly that’s part of the charm, exploring the real forest.
Along the way, Haji patiently explained the different wild plants and how locals used them in the past, especially before there was easy access to hospitals on the island. It was fascinating to learn how much knowledge is hidden in the forest.
I don’t think I’ve met a guide as knowledgeable as Haji when it comes to wild plants. Really recommend this walk if you want to slow down, learn something new and experience Langkawi’s nature beyond the usual trails.

Review Body: Went on a night hike with my 12-year-old daughter, guided by Haji at the Darulaman Sanctuary. It was a peaceful two-hour trek through the jungle, capped off with a memorable mini picnic by the river where we brewed fresh lemongrass tea—in the pitch-dark tropical rainforest. Somehow, that made it even more fun.
Haji has an incredible knack for spotting wildlife from remarkable distances. During the hike we saw a fascinating tree frog, a Malayan colugo, flying squirrels, a striking gecko, giant moths, and learned about a variety of local plants and their traditional uses. His knowledge of the forest was truly impressive.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience and well worth doing if you enjoy a little adventure, wildlife, and seeing the jungle come alive after dark.

Review Body: Very nice experience! I recommend a lot! I did it at night, we enjoy the nature a lot. I went only with my family, we were 4 so it was very calm and chill. We took our time to search for animals and insects.
We had red lights to discover.
The guide made some tea at the waterfall. He is so friendly and nice. We all loved it. (About 2hours) Go here !

Review Body: If you’re looking for a pure, untouched rainforest experience in Langkawi, Darulaman Sanctuary is truly one of the island’s best-kept secrets. Unlike crowded tourist spots, this place gives you that “virgin jungle” feeling — raw, peaceful, and deeply connected to nature.

Review Body: Amazing experience with Mr Haji
We took the jungle trekking tour. It was not an easy tour and definitely not for amateurs but Haji was very patient with us and he gave us a lot of info about the jungle. It was one of the best experiences I did in langkawi

A longer, more adventurous trek into Langkawi's protected rainforest.
For travellers looking to go beyond the usual rainforest stroll, this 3-hour, 4.2km trek takes you deeper into Langkawi's protected forest. Led by Haji, a local guide with remarkable knowledge of traditional herbal plants, it's a more adventurous experience for those who enjoy hiking and being rewarded with a quieter, wilder side of nature. The trail ventures beyond the easier paths into lowland rainforest, natural streams and denser jungle at the foothills of Gunung Raya. As you explore deeper into the forest, you'll cross rocky sections, follow hidden trails and reach areas that see far fewer visitors. Spending more time in the forest also gives you a better chance of spotting wildlife, from hornbills and dusky leaf monkeys to butterflies, reptiles and other creatures that thrive away from the busier trails.Throughout the trek, Haji brings the rainforest to life, sharing how local communities once relied on wild plants for medicine, food and everyday living. Rather than simply hiking through the jungle, you'll come away with a deeper understanding of how the forest functions and why protecting it matters. If you're an active traveller looking for a more immersive rainforest adventure, this trek offers the perfect mix of wildlife, traditional knowledge and the satisfaction of exploring deeper into one of Langkawi's last remaining protected forests. What to Expect3-hour rainforest trek, covering 4.2km route in the jungleDeeper exploration into Langkawi’s lowland rainforest sanctuaryMix of forest trails, uneven terrain and natural stream crossingsLearn about medicinal plants, traditional forest knowledge and rainforest ecology from HajiChance to spot hornbills, dusky leaf monkeys, butterflies and other wildlifeIncludes experienced nature guide, mineral water and day insuranceGood to KnowBest for active travellers comfortable with a 3-hour trek in rainforest terrainWear proper hiking shoes with good gripWildlife sightings are natural and cannot be guaranteedTransport to the meeting point is not included

At the foothills of Gunung Raya lies a 226-acre rainforest sanctuary built around a simple idea: that nature should be experienced, not replaced. Instead of turning the land into another development, the area was restored with the help of environmental experts, keeping it largely vehicle-free and designed for low-impact exploration.
The vision was to protect one of Langkawi’s remaining rainforest landscapes while allowing people to connect with it responsibly. Today, the team on the ground continues that mission — restoring native trees, protecting wildlife such as hornbills and the Sunda colugo, and finding ways for tourism and conservation to exist side by side.
