Mt Rinjani is Lombok’s most famous hike, but it’s not the only one. If you don’t fancy a multi-day, leg-burning climb, there are beautiful forest and waterfall hikes you can do in a day.

Hiking in Lombok

This experience was an unexpected highlight of my travel through Lombok. The guides Zack and Ikbal were not only fantastic but so so kind and helpful and provided great advice for the next parts of my travels I loved spending time in the forest learning and "helping" make palm sugar, coffee and papaya curry. We ate very very well. It was such a pleasure being in the forest with everyone.

This experience was an unexpected highlight of my travel through Lombok. The guides Zack and Ikbal were not only fantastic but so so kind and helpful and provided great advice for the next parts of my travels I loved spending time in the forest learning and "helping" make palm sugar, coffee and papaya curry. We ate very very well. It was such a pleasure being in the forest with everyone.

We had an excellent time with Lombok Forest tours. The walk in the jungle itself was beautiful, and all the details we got explained was just amazing. When we arrived to camp there was a lot to see and try, we cooked together, made sugar together and even roasted our own coffee! We absolutely loved the day!

Ikbal was so quick to send me all the information and arrange a transfer for a great price. The tour was unforgettable. I have done several forest tours with highly qualified guides and none came close to the level of knowledge of our guide. You can tell how important the land is to him. The walk was about 2 hours - our guide made us laugh and showed us so many amazing fruits and plants. His English is also excellent, so no difficulty with communication. We then spent another 2-3 hours cooking and eating whilst sheltering from the rain, and watching traditional processes of coffee roasting and brown sugar making. Thank you for a highlight of our trip to Indonesia!

I was very interested in the different fruits and plants that grew, and the views were stunning. Highly recommend booking a guide, the tour around the traditional village was also interesting!

My only comments were its very hot so make sure to take lots of water and wear a hat, and opt to start an earlier at 8am before the day gets too hot.

My only comments were its very hot so make sure to take lots of water and wear a hat, and opt to start an earlier at 8am before the day gets too hot. 

Honestly I think I was extremely lucky to have booked this trip with Rudy Trekker on Seek Sophie, it turned out to be an out of the world experience for me. I think November is a low season so the trip became like a private trip because I was the only trekker they had for a 2D1N crater rim hike package. My guide Dika was very profesional and attentive, I don't feel hurried in my hike, moreover, i'm not a seasoned hiker and absolutely did not train for this, I booked everything on a whim. So i was extremely grateful for Dika's patience and tolerance with my hiking speed. Then there's Adi, my porter. Words can't describe how incredible porters are. In addition to carrying loads that are insane heavy, hiking up the mountain, Adi prepared all these AMAZING MEALS along the hike.....which is mind blowing, it still feels surreal to me. This experience is so incredible that I have decided to join another hike next year! Till we meet again guys !

Wow wow wow wow, what an amazing experience was this! Rudy Trekker is definitely the 5* company and that makes such a huge difference. The climb is hard and it's so extremely convenient that they literally take care of EVERYTHING, so you only have to worry about putting your one foot before the other and keep on walking. I was extremely surprised by all the different food they gave us. It's like you are in a very good restaurant, but then on top of a mountain. Seriously incredible. Also a big shoutout to Kabul, Gigi and all other porters. They are true heroes. I can recommend everyone to book here!
