What is Sungei Buloh, and why is it a popular destination in Singapore?
Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is a nature reserve located in the northwestern part of Singapore, and is known for its rich biodiversity and beautiful landscapes. The reserve is home to a variety of bird species, including migratory birds that visit during certain times of the year. Visitors can also observe other wildlife, such as mudskippers, crabs, and monitor lizards. The reserve is a popular destination for birdwatching, hiking, and nature photography.
How can I get to Sungei Buloh, and what are the park hours?
Sungei Buloh is located in the Kranji area of Singapore, and is not the easiest place to access. You can come here by public transport - but this requires taking an MRT to Kranji MRT and then taking another bus to the reserve. If you come here by cab, note that it can be hard getting a cab back as many drivers don't like to go all the way to Sungei Buloh! If you have a car, you can drive here - it's very easy to find parking here as well. The reserve is open from 7am to 7pm daily, and admission is free.
What should I bring with me to Sungei Buloh?
When preparing for a visit to Sungei Buloh, it's important to wear comfortable clothing and shoes, and to bring sunscreen, a hat, and water to stay hydrated. All of Sungei Buloh is served by a paved path so you don't need special hiking shoes. Binoculars and a camera are also recommended for birdwatching and photography.
Are there any guided tours to Sungei Buloh available?
Yes we would highly recommend visiting Sungei Buloh with a nature guide as you'll be able to spot more wildlife and learn interesting things about the wildlife here, as well as the vital mangrove ecosystem. It's recommended to book guided tours in advance, as spaces are limited.
