Details
The PADI Open Water course is a full comprehensive certification allowing you to dive anywhere in the world. This 3 day course includes theoretical learning, skills in the swimming pool and 4 open water dives in the ocean. Dive up to a maximum depth of 18 meters, and become a competent diver at a slow and relaxed pace that suits you.

Day 1: Trincomalee Dive centre
You will learn theory, skill and gear introduction and Confined water session
- 08.30 am: Meet at Dive Shop and You will watch a 3-hours comprehensive digital video material of Risk Awareness and Open Water Course also there be Knowledge Reviews that need to be done.
- Take a refreshment break
- Later head to confined water training with the Instructor at a calm dive site that they use as a training site.
- The instructor will be there to assist you to prepare the Confined Water Session and also practice the underwater skills with you.
Day 2: Trincomalee dive centre - Trincomalee dive sites - Trincomalee dive centre
Today you will go for 2 dives in Trincomalee
- 08.30 am: Meet at the Dive shop
- Hop on a boat and depart to the dive site
- First dive in Trincomalee
- Break with fruits and snacks
- Second dive in Trincomalee
- 12.00 to 12.30 pm: Return to the Dive shop
Day 3: Trincomalee dive centre - Trincomalee dive sites - Trincomalee dive centre
Today you will go for 2 more dives in Trincomalee and get PADI Certification
- 08.30 am: Meet at the Dive shop
- Hop on a boat and depart to the dive site
- Third dive in Trincomalee
- Break with fruits and snacks
- Fourth dive in Trincomalee
- And finally, you will be doing the final exam
- Certification card will be given on the same day if you pass!
- Congratulations!

Meet your host
Trincomalee Bay Dive Center was established in 2013 by Thaminda K.Kumara, an IDC Staff Instructor since 2014. With 20 years’ experience working in the dive industry, he has built up a great reputation for safety and professionalism in Sri Lanka and the greater diving community, operating dive shops in both Weligama and Trincomalee. Sahan Damayantha, Thaminda’s nephew, is currently managing both dive shops, as well as working as a PADI OWSI instructor. They both currently operate two PADI 5 Stars Dive Resorts in Sri Lanka.
