A Once-in-a-Lifetime Kintsugi Experience with a Local Twist.
This isn't your typical Kintsugi workshop. For a limited time only, you’ll get to mend rare, nostalgic Peranakan ceramics—sourced directly from Singapore’s last remaining dragon kiln. These aren’t mass-made bowls. Each piece carries stories of heritage, culture and home. By repairing them with gold, you’re not just learning an ancient Japanese art - you’re honouring history, bridging two cultures, and turning imperfections into something more beautiful than before.Kintsugi is deeply meditative. Instead of hiding cracks, it asks you to slow down, sit with brokenness, and transform it with care and gold. It’s a quiet, reflective process that becomes unexpectedly personal. Many walk away feeling lighter, calmer, and more connected — not just to the piece, but to their own journey too.The workshop is led by Nilo, who started her studio in 2022 after seeing how Kintsugi helped her daughters cope with the loss of their grandfather. Moved by its quiet strength, she created a safe, nurturing space for others to heal through craft. She also partners with the Samaritans of Singapore to run healing workshops for those impacted by suicide. Her warmth, grounded presence, and lived experience make this more than just a class — it’s a space that feels like a gentle pause from the world.Birthday surprise Let us know if it's your birthday on the booking form, and you'll get a special surprise! What to ExpectLearn about the origins and healing philosophy of Kintsugi from experienced artistsExplore the sustainability side of Kintsugi as a thoughtful art practiceChoose your own Peranakan ceramic piece (each one unique!) and break it intentionallyGently mend the broken pieces, with one-on-one guidance from the instructorFinish your piece with beautiful gold powder detailingEnjoy Japanese green tea and snacks during a peaceful mid-session breakCreate a truly meaningful keepsake to take homeAll materials, tea and snacks are includedNo prior experience needed — suitable for beginners and those new to KintsugiGood to KnowOptional add-on: A food-safe version of Kintsugi is available — just select it as an add-on when bookingRestoration services are also available if you've got a ceramic piece you'd like mended. Nilo started her studio in 2022 after witnessing how the art of kintsugi helped her daughters cope with the loss of their grandfather. Moved by its quiet strength, she felt it could bring comfort to others going through tough times. Since then, she’s been creating a gentle space for people to explore healing through this thoughtful craft. Nilo also works closely with the Samaritans of Singapore, running Kintsugi Healing Workshops for those impacted by suicide, made possible through public donations. Her approach is warm, grounded, and rooted in real experience, making her studio feel like a safe corner in a busy world.
