Tickle your taste buds with a tasting session of our available ferments. And go deeper by hand-making your own ferments from fresh produce! You’ll get to explore making your own ferments — either kimchi or kombucha (depending on availability on the day).Taste Your Way Through FermentationTickle your taste buds with a guided tasting session of our house ferments, then get hands-on by crafting your own kimchi from fresh produce! Walk away with both knowledge and your very own jar of probiotic goodness.Fermentation has been used for thousands of years by humans, primarily to extend the life of food back when there were no such things as fridges. It is also used to modify food to make new ones. Did you know there will be no chocolate or coffee without fermentation? Fast forward to today, and you can find kombucha on tap in bars, sourdough in cafes and a buffet of sauerkraut, yoghurt, and kimchi in your local supermarket. Here's the secret: you can easily make these "superfoods" at home, just like our ancestors did.Fermented foods are gaining popularity as a source of “good” bacteria that contribute to a healthy gut. During fermentation, microorganisms like bacteria, yeast or fungi convert simple sugars and starch into alcohol or acids. Besides being natural preservatives, they leave a distinctive, strong, salty, or sour taste. Fermentation makes certain foods easier to digest (e.g. milk) and also easier for your body to absorb vitamins and minerals, like iron and zinc. What to ExpectExplore making your own ferments - kimchi/kombuchaAn exploration of the science behind fermentation – from culturing bacteria to managing carbonation.A take-home starter kit (like a kombucha scoby or kimchi jar) so you can continue your fermentation journey at home.Guidance from your expert hosts in a comfortable, air-conditioned setting.
