Review Body: If you think you know Batik, think again. A lesson in patience and perseverance, this rich cultural tradition is seen all over Yogyakarta. You’ll find shops and people displaying the most ornate designs on various fabrics - clothes, wares, frames. It wasn’t until actually trying the laborious and creative art form that we found a deep respect for the technique and skill required to make such beautiful pieces. That said, Hanung made the entry into this ancient practice inviting, engaging, playful, humorous and most importantly, FUN. Even for those artistically inclined, the level of complexity could be seen as overwhelming. However…our teachers ability to encourage, guide and demystify the process made for an incredibly personal experience. Hanung, Mr. Paul and the other artisans ensured that beginners could try their (steady) hand at bringing personality and customization into a piece of their own. This keepsake, along with individual videos of the process, commemorates an experience well worth the time and effort. Pro-tip: don’t rush it. They also offer astonishing pieces from local craftsman in the gallery up front. In retrospect, having learned from loyal ambassadors of the waning craft in such an intimate setting, we recognize the dedication to preserving the heritage that is Batik.

Review Body: Absolutely wonderful experience! All of the artists were so friendly and helpful and willing to share advice and tips. I don’t consider myself a terribly artistic person and yet I walked away feeling genuinely proud of the piece of art I made! I absolutely could not have done it without their expert and friendly guidance. I also loved chatting with everyone throughout the morning. I also purchased a really beautiful piece of art to bring home which I will treasure. I spent about 4 hours with them and was able to go at my own pace. Highly recommend this experience when you are in Jogja!

Review Body: everything was absolutely delightful. the staff are very welcoming, patient and creative, they gave us time to express ourselves, showed us how to do everything, and took care of our beginner work with great attention and took the time to give us advice and direction. The spot feels very authentic and lived in, there's a open cafe space to relax in the shade, with very good coffee and friendly faces. We couldn't be happier with our experience and the results. These are very good people and talented artists, and we were honored to be welcomed in their workshop.

Review Body: The gallery is located slightly away from city but it’s definitely worth the visit! Cater for more than 3 hours here so you can fully enjoy the area — apart from the batik experience, there is also a cafe with talented singer and bouldering wall to enjoy. And of course, the batik experience is the highlight that really makes you appreciate the art and its process. It’s good for everyone, as long as you have the patience to learn. The talented artist there will guide and help you even if you aren’t with good with art.

Review Body: Such a beautiful activity! We had so much fun making our batik art! It was just thec3 of us there. I decided to draw something and then do the batik process. This takes longer, but we were not in a rush. My husband and 12 year old daughter decided to choose a pre drawn piece to do their batik process. The artists there are so helpful and kind. A must do activity. Very therauputic and relaxing. You take your art work home too! Thank you so much, for an unforgettable experience.

Review Body: This activity was really great. All the people there were lovely, especially considering I came with my 6 and 8 yo daughters. They made sure it was safe for them to use the hot wax. It does not really take 3hrs, more like 1h30-2h, unless you want to do a lot of details, which is quite difficult for beginners. But the place is nice to hang out a bit afterwards and chat with other people and take a coffee. This will probably be one of the highlights of our trip to Indonesia!

Review Body: We have had an amazing and unforgettable experience at Leksa Ganesha. We could take as much time as we needed for our creative process and there was room for all your own creativity. When hesitant, the staff was happy to help with brainstorming ideas. We worked with different techniques and styles and are truly very happy with the workshop and the results of our own batik! 10/10 would recommend!

Review Body: The Workshop is a really great experience where you get to meet really kind, lovely and open artists, who not only give a in-depth insight upon the cultural and historical roots of the practice, but also accompany you through the whole process of creating your own unique memory of the art. The making of Batik takes a lot of patience and time, but it‘s definetly worth it!!

Review Body: The kindness, the place, and above all the passion. We went by chance recommended by a local, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful place. They taught us everything about Batik, the procedure, the fabrics, the materials... We were also able to make one ourselves. They explain it to you with incredible dedication. Thanks for everything!

Review Body: We had a lovely time making our own batik prints. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend! If you are planning to use their pre-made patterns then it will take approximately 3hrs. However if you want to draw your own design or add a lot of details it could take longer. We stayed for 4.5hrs.
