Let me start by saying that Little Cat Ba has 4 cats. Four. The place could be falling down around my ears and it would be perfect. Fortunately, LCB has plenty going for it.
We took a weekend break from Hanoi to just get away and relax and this was a great option.
LCB has beautiful gardens, a little lake out front and is hidden away from the road and noise. The gardens are mature and have a lovely range of plants and flowers. It's genuinely a peaceful hideaway.
The staff were generally fantastic. While we were there the whole island had a planned power outage. So no AirCon. They gave us a couple of powerful fans that could be run off the generator and they were fine. The staff - especially Thuong - couldn't do more to make us feel comfortable. They dealt with the power outage as best as they could, running the generator as best as possible, getting us a scooter to take out to explore and generally being great.
The food is from the kitchen is a perfectly good option if heading into town is not an option.
The only downside was that the water pressure in our room (6) was too weak to shower properly, but this was partly down to the electrical issues.
Loved staying here. Will stay again.
Did I mention they have 4 cats?

We came to Catba island for a very short stay, just to do a day cruise. So we arrived at Little Catba Hotel just after nightfall the day before, feeling a bit frazzled and tired from 12 hours of travel. The 3 ladies who run this quant lakeside hotel immediately made us feel welcome and at ease, with a tasty tea on arrival and explanation of the hotel and room.
Our room was quite simple, but tidy, and had everything we needed.
The restaurant is small, and well priced — we enjoyed the noodle soup with egg for breakfast, it was very nourishing. I think that we had some of the best coffee of our whole Vietnam trip here, too.
We also had a lot of washing to do, which they did overnight for us, for only a couple of dollars.
We liked the pets they had around, of which there were many, including some cute puppies and kittens.
After our second night when we were due to be picked up, our host (and one of the cute dogs) walked us out and waited with us for our bus to make sure we got on the right one, as we don’t speak much Vietnamese. We felt very well looked after by our host here 😊
Overall I would say that this is a cute, quiet spot to stay if you would like to get away from the noise of Catba town. It is quite simple, but this suited us just fine, and we were happy

We stayed here the night before we left for our boat cruise. This is a cute guesthouse right outside the town of cat ba. This guesthouse is super cute, and only a few rooms, so make sure to book in advance! Loved the location and watching the fisherman across the water fish from his boat. It’s very quiet and serene here. The rooms are cute, we had a lake view room, and the garden rooms are nice too and might be even slightly bigger. The beds weren’t the softest for our taste, but it was just one night! The air con and WiFi worked great. The restaurant area was super cute too and the breakfast was excellent! Loved the pancakes. The staff was nice but not as friendly as some of our other places we stayed. I felt the interest went down a bit when they realized we had already booked our boat tour prior to arriving, but they were helpful getting us great directions into town! Cat ba isn’t the most interesting town, this a a prefect guesthouse to stay when passing thru!!

Great! That's all I can say. The owner and the whole staff are very enthusiastic, the space is out of featured and fresh and makes me like home. And especially when you come here, you will be given advice to the beautiful places in Cat Ba, or more impressive than it is a visit to the visit by the boss. Very experienced. Definitely going back to Cat Ba on 1 day not far and here, join another tour lol

My wife and I enjoyed four nights at Little Cat Ba Hotel. The hosts work hard to make sure their guests have a pleasant and straightforward experience in Cat Ba. They helped us arrange our transit into and out of Cat Ba, requesting bus drivers to drop us off and pick us up right from the hotel -- very convenient. They provided excellent vegetarian meal options (though we only ordered their breakfasts, which were delicious). We requested an early breakfast one morning, which they accommodated without difficulty. They showed us how to drive a scooter (quite easy) and then rented us one to get around the island at a reasonable daily rate. One of the staff members even stood with us in the rain to make sure we caught our bus out of Cat Ba.
One minor word of caution: we sensed an expectation that we would book activities on the island through the host. Since we elected to book activities prior to arrival and with third parties, this expectation posed a couple awkward moments. We would advise future guests to be prepared for the hosts to ask what you will be doing each day.
