Negombo is a modest beach town with mysterious coral-covered shipwrecks underwater. Diving here, you can encounter schools of barracuda, travelly, fusiliers, and interesting wrecks such as the Car Cemetary wreck & Aircraft carrier wreck of 1945. Negombo is great for divers of all levels of experience, especially beginners.

How do I get there?
Negombo is 10km away from the main international airport Katunayake (Colombo airport). From the airport, you can get here by taxi in 15-20 minutes (1500 rupees), local bus no. 240 (50 rupees) or tuk-tuk (800 rupees).
Do I need to go with a guide?
It is necessary to have a divemaster with you to ensure safety.
Do I need to train up?
You should be good at swimming. You do not need to have a diving background if you are intending to attain your PADI certificate here.
What's the best time to go?
The best months to visit are January, February, March, November, December
