Negombo is a modest beach town with mysterious coral-covered shipwrecks underwater. Diving here, you can encounter schools of barracuda, travelly, fusiliers, and interesting wrecks such as the Car Cemetary wreck & Aircraft carrier wreck of 1945. Negombo is great for divers of all levels of experience, especially beginners.
After months of lockdown in Sri Lanka, operations in Negombo have resumed under strict health guidelines that visitors must follow. Domestic travellers and ex-pats living in Sri Lanka are allowed to visit Negombo for diving.
Sri Lanka is expecting to open borders to international travellers from August 1, 2020. We are continuing to monitor the situation and will provide updates if the opening date were to change.
