All trips to Sri Lanka begin from its capital, Colombo, and you can plan a Sri Lankan road trip for every interest or duration!
If you are traveling in summer and want to enjoy the Sri Lankan coast, head east from Colombo to Arugam Bay and enjoy the beautiful views. Arugam Bay is perfect for intermediate to advanced surfers. You can choose to stop by Udawalawe or Yala National Park before Arugam Bay to experience a safari game drive (1-2 days).
Then, take a 2.5H drive to Sinharaja and spend the next day in the Forest Reserve watching birds and small reptiles.
Then, visit the National Parks of Sri Lanka (approx. 1-2 days per park with 1-2H drive time between each park) - Udawalawe for the elephants, Yala for leopards & sloth bears, and Bundala for the most amazing birds.

Start in Colombo and drive for 4 hours to Kalpitiya, the best spot for kitesurfing. In 3 days, you can be a level 3 certified kitesurfer!
Your next stop is Wilpattu National Park (1.5h drive), the bigger and less touristy alternative to Yala, try to spot elephants or leopards!
Head to Mannar Island (1.5 hrs drive) where you can kitesurf, and learn about Sri Lanka's history. Finally, head to Jaffna for some great food and cultural activities.
