How do I get there?
A
From Colombo Fort train station you can take a train to Unawatuna. It'll take about 4 hours. Another option is taking a bus from the airport to Colombo bus station to switch to another bus which goes to Galle, from there it's a short 10 minute taxi or Uber drive. Of course you can take a taxi or Uber all the way there.

Do I need to go with a guide?

It is necessary to have a divemaster with you to ensure safety.

Do I need to train up?
A
You should be good at swimming. You do not need to have a diving background if you are intending to attain your PADI certificate here.

What's the best time to go?

The best months to visit are January, February, March, April, November, December
