This is one of our fave treks — the volcano that changed history and inspired the writing of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. It's the largest volcanic eruption in history (1815), and caused a climate event around the world - a ‘Year without Summer", even as far as Europe. 🤯 Tambora only sees about 200 visitors per year, so it's very much a hidden gem!

Here you'll do a multi-day trek to the summit of Mount Tambora.

Anyone who loves nature and something truly off-the-beaten-path. This is one of the most special experiences, as every step you take feels like you're walking through history. At 2850m tall, Tambora isn't a altitude-sickness-inducing trek, but the climb up can be taxing because of its path conditions. So some fitness is required!

It's not a difficult climb, but the path is gravelly and most of the trek will need to be done at night. The hardest part is probably the last stretch which gets really steep (your thighs will start to scream). The summit climb will require stamina because you’ll probably be really tired by then and the top will feel so close, yet so far. So do train up!
