It was a fascinating day. It began with the batik workshop. I found that I was the only person doing batik that morning and that made it even better, I think, because several of the people working inside the workshop came to offer suggestions and advice on technique and to reassure me about my lack of artistry - that everything was possible in art - even what I was doing! They were all lovely. Then the cooking group from the morning shared their lunch with me (delicious) before I was taken on a tour of the village where we caught some fish that we brought back and cooked in my cooking class. Thanks to everyone- you were all marvellous and your work is fascinating. The batiks that I created were not as terrible as I thought ( thanks to a lot of help) and I bought one from the gallery that I think is truly wonderful.

We attended the cooking class and it has been the highlight of our trip so far! Our host, Hanung, gave us a tour of the beautiful Tembi village, before cooking. We cooked with locally sourced ingredients, got to catch our own fish to cook, and enjoyed a beautiful meal at the end. I would highly recommend this experience, you get to experience the local Java lifestyle!

I highly highly recommend a visit here. I wanted to check out and organic farm while in Indo and I'm so grateful I found Saifana. Right away, we were greeted with the warmest welcome. The host rememebered and referred to us by name throughout the day we were there. We wanted to stay overnight but they were fully booked and I now understand why. We did a cooking class with a young girl who spoke excellent English and together we created the yummiest meal with super fresh and organic ingredients. We couldn't finish it so they put it in the fridge for us and heated it up for us to have for dinner. THey have a little "shop" and a library and some board games in the cafe. Everyone was so so lovely and the whole farm just has really good vibes. I would go back to Lombok just to go to this farm!
