The different nature sides of Java and the friendly and helpful people were impressive and the driver and the people offered enough time at each stop, you were never in stress and could therefore enjoy everything as good as possible.

The different nature sides of Java and the friendly and helpful people were impressive and the driver and the people offered enough time at each stop, you were never in stress and could therefore enjoy everything as good as possible.

We chose to do the shorter Caldera Batur hike as we didn't like the idea of doing the Mt Batur Hike with lots of other people. We also didn't know how we'd go with 2 hours of uphill hiking.
 We were soo glad we chose this trip as it was the highlight of our trip in Bali. Justin picked us up on time and safely drove us to the starting point. There our guide Wi took over. He was calm and patient as a couple of us struggled with the consistent uphill trek. He took breaks as often as we needed and we still made it to the top of the hill in 1 hour's time in time for sunrise. When we first got there cloud coverage meant we couldn't see too much but right on sunrise the clouds started to disappear and we were treated to beautiful views we never would have imagined. 
 The best thing was the peace at the top as we shared the space with only 7 other hikers. We definitely would recommend this trip to others. Be warned though the hike is hard if you're not used to hiking, it's all uphill right from the start and even though there is a path there is still a lot of steep, uneven ground to navigate.

Wi was an amazing guide, extremely helpful, kind, and knowledgable! Yosi was also a great driver :) This was an amazing experience, a highlight of our time in Bali. 

The route is not up Mt. Batur, which you can see is incredibly crowded. I'd advise bringing shoes with good traction - mine sucked, but Wi was patient and got me down the mountain safe and sound. The view from the top gives amazing views of 5 volcanos, one even in Lombok! We also met a very cute dog up there.

We absolutely loved this experience from beginning to end! Everything went smoothly exactly as described, from the early-morning pick-up to making it up the mountain in time for sunrise. From our wonderful driver, Yoshi, to our knowledgeable hiking guide, Wi, we felt very well looked after throughout the entire experience.

The hike is definitely steep in places for unfit legs (like ours, haha!), but all the effort is forgotten the moment you reach the top. We were VERY glad we brought our windbreaker jackets because it was surprisingly cold up there! The views were absolutely stunning, and we certainly didn't feel disappointed about not climbing the actual volcano. The view from the caldera was perfect, with the volcano on one side, the ocean on the other, and the lake below. It was also fascinating to learn about the lives of the people who live on the slopes of the volcano.

We felt especially honoured that Wi shared the cemetery with us afterwards. It was a really special experience, and we appreciated how generously the Balinese people share their culture and traditions with visitors. We also got to see the fish farms, including Wi's own section, which was really interesting.
 We HIGHLY recommend adding the hot springs afterwards. What an incredible way to warm your bones and relax your muscles after the hike! We had more than enough time to enjoy the hot water and unwind before our transfer to Amed.

 I've been on many tours and travelled extensively around Southeast Asia, but this experience was particularly lovely. At no point did we feel pressured to pay for extras or do additional activities. It also felt like they genuinely cared whether we were enjoying ourselves. 

If you have a wonderful experience like we did, I definitely encourage you to tip. It's such a meaningful way to support small local businesses and give something back to the people who call these beautiful places home, even as they welcome so many visitors from around the world.
