Review Body: Reboot I needed in perfect surroundings! "My 2 weeks at BMW Lodge was the perfect reboot I needed to get the new year underway. Everything about this place was spot on for me and I left a better fitter person than when I came. A relatively new boutique hotel in THE very best location at Medewi everything was absolutely delightful.. a credit to the owner, management and staff. The location is smack bang on the beach, with a bar seat area and infinity pool to watch the surf and stunning sunsets from. The restaurant is light and breezy and the menu varied, healthy and well portioned (although I did ask for half portions of breakfast as they were just too big for me). In the surrounding village are other options for food at cheaper prices so you can vary up your diet whilst there. I tried a couple of other surf camp restaurants which were cheaper but honestly not that good and ended up either eating really well at Bombora or really cheaply and authentically at the local Warungs along the beach. The area of West Bali reminds of the Bali I first fell in love with 30 years ago, authentic Indo, natural and untouched in a negative way by over tourism and development. There are limited facilities in Medewi yes but I was not in need of anything so it didn't matter, the staff are so helpful and will take you to Negara or Pekutatan if you did. I even loved to be woken on occasion by the mosque speakers or the Balinese music coming from speakers somewhere in the neighbourhood. BMW is well considered in eco ways as well and the water is triple filtered so you could even drink the shower water if you wanted to! The organise beach clean-ups with the local board riders and school kids and don't use plastic straws and throw away serviettes. You get tea/coffee you can make in your room and get 2 bottles of water topped up every day, fresh fruit bowl on arrival or if you change rooms as I did (upgraded for a week yew!) and a mini bar. The beds and pillows are sublime and linen super lux, I slept so well. No mozzies at all and they provide an electronic plug in mozzie thingo just in case. The personal product line they use is organic and they use minimal plastic in the rooms, restaurant and kitchen. This I was really impressed with. Each room has 2 yoga mats and a strap and a fit ball so I was stoked with this. Although the standard room which I stayed in (for half the time) was too small to do yoga in and had to do it on the front porch which was not the most ideal. A dedicated contemplation space suitable for this outside somewhere would be a simple solution. and they organise beach clean-ups and work with the local community. The break in front of the hotel is a left hander and suitable for all stages of surfing. Surfboards are available from the Medewi Boardriders next door and they will teach you if you need it. Buy a t-shirt from them and they will show the best ways to get out over the rocks and just hang with you in the water and assist you to get waves if you are struggling. I was there wet season and so surf ranged from small to epic over the 2 week period. It rained in the evening a couple of days but I appreciated the break fro the heat. I surfed most days andthe days I didn't was able to watch heaps of surf docos and movies on the house cable. Wifi was great and stable as well. The staff were very pleasant and attentive and Supri and Astawa are great managers. A big thanks also to Awi, Yoga and Nopi for their care, patience and kindness. For a new hotel BMW is still finding its feet and will smooth any glitch that they can...in terms of business relationships and helping the local community it is leading the way and is an inspiration on how to do ethical business and tourism in Bali. It may not be for everyone with the higher prices and remote location but for me it was ideal. I left relaxed, refreshed, healthy, fitter, back into my daily yoga practise, a few kilos lighter, in less pain (after daily massages), a clear head and a full tank! Terima Kaseh for the reboot I needed! I will be definitely be back and bring my mates!"

Review Body: Best spot in Medewi "Firstly, a caveat. I am a hotel industry person, so tend to be fussy and at times critical. But I find it very hard to be critical of Bombora Medewi Wavelodge. It is what is says, a Wave Lodge, so ideal for surfers, their wives and older kids. It is in no means a full service resort, with resort-style grounds and services. Saying that, all of the service from staff, food and drinks and rooms are of an international standard. The staff are all very well trained, a credit to the management. They are keen, knowledgeable and empowered to act quickly on a guests question or request. We had a couple of requests and the team were happy to help. Even when I was a bit sick with a cold, the bar team made me a special night time remedy that helped greatly. Food and drinks, I could not fault. A good mix of western, asian and Indonesian food to be had on a limited but interesting menu. The drinks were not warung prices but worth the price and well presented. The view from the bar bench looks directly over the surf break. Great for pre-surf coffee or sunset beers. A note that Bombora purify their own drinking water, so no need for endless bottles of water on the table. A tip, outside dining is limited, with the best offering up the street about 100 metres. We were so happy with Bombora food we tended to stay in and watch the surf and chat with other guests. The accommodation was perfect. Comfortable beds with quality linen and pillows. A big bathroom with all amenities you could need, even a bathtub. We did not need to turn on the air con in our whole stay as the rooms are very airy, with big open balcony at front. The rooms could compete on a good 4 or 4.5 star hotel room without any problems. Personally, I liked the two in house Surf Movie channels and the board racks next to the front door. There are some great no-surf activities in the surrounding area. Waterfalls, bike tours, hikes etc. There is even a nice beach just to the south which is a good 2km to the next point past a fishing village. It is a remote area, but rich in local culture. Overall I would say that Bombora Medewi is very good value for money for what is the best quality accommodation offering in the area. It is a Lodge, or smaller style hotel, but of very high quality. We were very happy with our choice and will certainly be back for another stay."

Review Body: Fantastic spot with extras "On our 3rd trip to Medewi we decided to stay at Bombora, after our friends stayed here the previous year. The hotel has the best location in Medewi, with an infinity pool looking over the Point, surf spot. It is very easy to float on a giant bean bag or lie on a lounger all day and just watch the surfers and the ocean. We booked a “basic room” which had a lovely courtyard, ocean views, super king VERY comfortable bed and quality linen. Large TV, fridge, big bathroom with quality complimentary toiletries. We were greeted by Novi with welcome drinks and cool towels. In our room was a complimentary fruit basket and the water is filtered, so you can drink from the taps (no plastic!! Well done Bombora). Also pool towels to use, and hotel slippers and robes for use. Breakfast comes standard with your room and you get to choose from the menu plus a hot beverage and also a juice. The food here is expensive - and that would be my only critique of Bombora. If you are going to charge NZ or Aust prices, then you need to serve NZ or Aust quality meals and personally we found the food to be very average. We had breakfast at Bombora but ate lunch and dinner elsewhere which was always of a great standard and Bali prices. The staff at Bombora are friendly and attentive and I commend them on the great job they all do. We will definitely be back. "

Review Body: Service. "We stayed for 3 nights including Valentine’s Day, short story. Service , best we ever had Food, excellent, Rooms excellent, Views excellent, Location excellent, Stay there again, yes. Long story, This place has got it right, the staff are all very pleasant and welcoming, very well dressed with plenty of smiles. Our room was ground floor delux room 3 with great views of the surf and a nice outdoor lounge seating to relax in. The ladies will love the very comfortable king size bed, the supplied bathroom products are probably the best selection I have ever had in Bali. The restaurant menu is great with variety ,very well presented and enjoyable meals but leave room for the deserts, I was very surprised how nice a pumpkin cake desert was with fresh cream and strawberry yummy. The COFFEE the best coffee I have had in Bali. The service, all the staff are very helpful and it is very pleasant to be offered fresh cold drinking water all the time and my glass was always refreshed without asking, especially as this was complementary. OMG, Valentine’s Day , flowers And a rose on the bed and our bath was full of flowers set for the romance, and didn’t stop there the pool and table was all set up for a romantic night with 2 piece band. Well done to the resort owners, the manager and all staff"

"Thank you to all the Bombora team for a fantastic stay :) especially to Novi at the front desk, she is such a lovely young lady and very welcoming .. actually all the staff are awesome and they make you feel right at home ! The rooms are clean and very comfortable with all you’ll need ! The restaurant is excellent, great service, the food, drinks, coffee etc are high quality and delicious not to mention the perfect location over looking the infinity pool on to Medewi’s great left hander ! Whether you are a surfer or just want a comfortable place with an awesome view to relax Bombora will not disappoint .. myself and my son have stayed there a number of times and we’ll be definitely staying again . There is not many places in Bali where you’ll get this kind of great service, comfort and an awesome location ... highly recommended :) I’d also like to mention Supri the manager, thank you ... Review Body: Full of love and service. "Husband and I are in Bali for two weeks on our honeymoon. We were staying somewhere else and came to bombora to grab a post-surf bite (property is literally right at the medewi break). We quickly fell in love with the place, so we asked onsite employee, Yoga, if there were any rooms available. Yes, but we had to switch each night because it is high season. He and his team were so helpful. So... We wanted to stay here so badly, we gave up our non-refundable original hotel and came here to Bombora!!! Supri, the manager, helped welcome us to an AMAZING honeymoon welcome: leis, cake, a tub filled with flowers, love towel sculpture - wow! Novi at the front desk is so amicable and welcoming and helpful. She made sure we got wonderful in-room massages. The rooms here are wonderful, food is great, ambience is romantic and surfer-friendly... it’s like all the perks of being at a surfer resort with the comfort and standard of top class rooming. We only have one night left and are so sad!"

Review Body: Bombora perception "We have been here three years running since Bombora was opened. If it can become better, it does every year. Our welcome back is always so friendly and our room always a treat to walk into. It is so encouraging to see the same faces and also the new staff all of whom are so professional, friendly and helpful. The beds are the most comfortable. The deluxe rooms upstairs have a beautiful view. The standard room downstairs has everything you could want. The toiletries supplied are the best quality I have ever seen in Bali. Coffee is fantastic as is the menu. We can only say another big thank you and reiterate our appreciation of ALL the staff. A big shout out to Novi and Ayu on the front desk, Yoga and Angus at the bar. Nopi and all the restaurant staff, Masrin and all the cleaning staff, the Chefs who were always open to slight changes if required and of course the manager Supri who also makes the time to speak with the guests. Review Body: So close to perfection "Stayed for two nights recently. This place is pretty close to perfect, location , super friendly staff, the most comfortable beds in any hotel I've stayed at. The rooms are pretty much of a five star standard from the sheets to bathroom, cable TV. The staff seemed genuinely happy and eager to help as well as maintaining a sense of Balinese friendliness and sense of humour. My only tiny tiny gripe, first night the food was absolutely spot on seafood laksa was great. Unfortunately the second night the food wasn't quite the same not the end of the world and by no means terrible but just not the same standard. In saying that if you're after luxury, great place to surf from, amazing views and super friendly staff I would highly recommend this place. Can't wait for my next visit. Hats off to Mac the owner looking forward to seeing you again soon."

Review Body: surf, eat, sleep, repeat… "Thats what you can expect on a high level when you visit medewi and the bombora wave lodge. The famous feft breaking waves are literally touching the invinity pool and terrace of the lodge... The food is tasty, the variety is good, and the staff is helpfull, friendly and seem to enjoy working there. I forgot, the coffeemenue is the best in the area ;) The rooms (i chose standard) are great! Very comfy beds, quite aircon, huge bathrooms... On top of that, we got to watch a surfcontest organized by the local medewi board riders club (mbr) with the support of the wave lodge., sitting by the pool with a cold drink in our hands :) Its also suitable for families, as i have seen some happy kids and parents... Looking forward to bring my family! Thx for this pleasant stay bombora wave lodge and staff"

Review Body: Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!! "We had such an awesome adventure here!! The staff is incredibly attentive, Novi, Ayu, and Kadek at the front desk won't let you walk by without saying hello and asking if you need anything!! The dining staff from the cooks to the wait service, Nopi, Mandi and all the others, are quick and will modify any dish - which all the food from breakfast, snacks and dinners, were just amazing! The room was incredible as are the views and pool! Such an awesome vibe! The locals are very nice and service outside the resort was very cool, from the other restaurants in the area to the massages and surf rentals and instructions!! Great place to surf since there are many breaks right in front of the hotel and a great area to learn to surf (like me) as well. We would highly recommend and will be back!!"

Review Body: Incredible location right on the break "The lads form Melbourne and Qld gathered here for the start of our 10th anniversary surf safari....normally Coolangatta but this year,magnificent Bali and Medewi. The hotel,is adjacent to one of the best point breaks imaginable and was over 8 feet when we were there. The twin room was small but very clean and comfortable. The f&b choices varied and reasonably priced - all meals to a very high standard and good wine list! Beers were icy and a very relaxed vibe with incredible views of the break and the bay. The staff were just outstanding - I've travelled far and wide in Asia and this team are brilliant...can do, will do and love to do! Their transfer was very comfortable and rental shops for boards right next door. I will be back with my wife and son. Just magnificent!!"

Great accommodations [we had a standard room - so basic for the Lodge] but spacious, comfy, clean, well appointed with everything you would expect at a top hotel - robes, slippers, toiletries, room serviced daily, cable tv, fast complimentary wifi, a/c, fan etc etc. Surf is great, such a good wave. The food is fresh and the restaurant offers a good variety of meals [Vegan, GF etc] and a variety of cuisines. Resort pool is reserved for guests only, so its a great spot to relax and watch the surf while getting some sun. All the staff are super friendly and the service was just faultless."

Review Body: well located surfing accomodation "We stayed here for 7 nights with my surfing husband extremely impressed with all aspects of our time here. Although he didn't actually surf much we enjoyed the vibe and company of the people we met here. Our first two nights were downstairs and we found the room a little claustrophobic, but upstairs the rooms were brilliant and well worth the extra cost. Staff were delightful, hard-working and responsive. Food was amazing, tasty and fresh so breakfast was always a treat while the restaurant views were perfect. You cant swim at the beach but we did really enjoy the pool."

We headed to Medewi with the 2 young boys for a 3 day surf adventure:) The Bombora Medewi Wavelodge was perfect... Great wave for learning kids and relaxing wave for Dad, top pool for mum:) the food was simple but good quality and fresh. The room and lodge was very clean and the staff were great, well trained and very attentive to all guests... You stay on the point, can hang in the pool and watch it all happen right in front... Review Body: Perfect family surf trip "Best barista made coffee I’ve had since arriving in Bali. The infinity pool and restaurant looks over the surf break. The staff are so friendly and well meaning and some of them memorised our names. This left hand point break is so mellow but even in its ‘off-season’ we got enough size for a challenge, perfect for beginners to any surfers looking to get away from the crowds. We surfed twice a day for a week, once at low tide and once at high tide, got a massage everyday and watched the sun go down over Java every evening."

You can only use the pool if you stay there . Use of showers and changing is allowed as long as you drink or eat there . No Problem , i say . Review Body: Beautiful accomodation "This place is a gem. The accommodation is 5 star and the beds are like sleeping on a cloud. The view is gorgeous, food is delicious and staff friendly. Only minor issue was breakfast (not a huge problem) would have been nice to have more choices as in extras without having to pay more (extra piece of toast or hash browns) and only being allowed one flavoured juice - no mix allowed and staff were stringent about this. In saying this would definitely recommend Bombora to others."

Could have had a bit more space, and the preferred rooms are at the back with sea views over the wall & less road noise. Breakfast is delicious, loved the smashed avocado and best coffee I have had in Bali so far! Loved the friendly staff and little touches like a glass of cold water when sitting by the pool. Stunning views of the beach & surf break, a very relaxing stay:))"

Review Body: Medowi. Beautiful in every way. "Our second trip to Bombora. What a great place to surf and relax. Not over populated and a medium size resort where you feel really at home. We had the upstairs room with views to the surf and local fishing boats as they cruised in and out. The staff are superb. Nopi and Novi in particular were professional, friendly and fun! Certainly would recommend Bombora, particularly to couples who want to surf and chill, with great service and beautiful surrounds."

Review Body: Surfers Delight "An absolute gem of a place, located right in front of the Medewi break, allowing you 24hr a day wave gazing. The owner Ian, is an Aussie and it shows throughout the lodge. Things are done right and done with a touch of class. Lovely rooms, amazing beds, beautiful linen.....the list goes on. We had a standard room and were very happy. The staff are brilliant and make you feel very welcome. Whilst not the cheapest place in Medewi, it's definitely worth the extra few $$"
