Come with an open mind and what we can promise is an enriching, educational and immersive experience nonetheless.Introduction This is a 2H intertidal walk at Pasir Ris Beach. With an experienced marine naturalist guide, you'll get up close and personal with tiny marine creatures that you might not have seen before in your life, all without having to go underwater. This is great for adults and kids above 3 years old to discover the hidden marine world right in their own backyard! ScheduleYou can see the timings in the booking calendar. There are limited slots each month as trip timing will have to coincide with low tide timings where you can see marine animals. During low tide, areas of marine shoreline are exposed (also known as intertidal zones), and that's when you'll be able to spot the most marine life!NOTE: As intertidal walks are conducted during the low tide timing, the start time of walks varies based on tide time.Important Note and FAQs Coastal habitats are fragile and extra precaution should be taken to avoid damaging the ecosystem. Your guide will show you the way. Do note that this is not a tour and some form of participation will be needed to ensure a holistic experience. Come with an adventurous spirit! Here are some commonly asked questions on the experience: "๐™„๐™จ ๐™ž๐™ฉ ๐™๐™–๐™ง๐™ข๐™›๐™ช๐™ก ๐™ฉ๐™ค ๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ช๐™˜๐™ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ข๐™–๐™ก๐™จ?"โฃThe animals that are being touched are done so gently and with respect. If animals are not safe to be picked up (e.g. if touching them harms them because of the oil from our fingers), they will not be touched or picked up. The experience takes place on a public beach, and on any given day there are many people there. So it's actually for the better that these guides are there, acting as watchful protectors over the area. Not only do they ensure that the participants are treating the animals with respect, they will also kindly educate the general public if they see that they might be stressing out the animals. The facilitators are well trained in ensuring participants pay attention to where they step and do not mindlessly trample on the animals. In fact, it's actually the litter on the beaches that pose a much bigger threat and disruption to the marine environment, which is why beach clean-ups are important! โฃโฃ"Is this really a sustainable way of seeing the marine life?" As with anything to do with sustainability, there is no perfect answer, but on balance we do believe that this is an important way to educate ourselves on how to sustainably interact with marine life. Education is crucial in promoting wildlife and environmental conservation. If none of these educational tours exist, people would not know how to treat the animals. And even if the public had good intentions, they might end up harming the animals even more. So by having these tours, the guides not only educate our young ones and help them foster a greater appreciation for marine life, but also regularly advise people against these and educate on how to treat marine life properly. They donโ€™t collect these animals for aquarium trade nor catch these animals for food. They also conduct regular beach clean-ups, marine ecology lessons and participate in efforts to reduce our impact on the environment. Please be assured that these guides really care for the marine life and will do whatever they can to uphold best practices and support conservation โ€” which education is a powerful tool in doing, and is the primary goal of these tours.
