Roam with elephants, hike Doi Inthanon and sleep under the stars!
If you want to see elephants ethically and discover Chiang Mai’s secret nature trails, this experience is perfect. This 2D1N ethical elephant experience is unlike typical elephant tours because it’s one of the few sanctuaries in Chiang Mai that are truly ethical! And by that, we mean: no riding, no bathing, no feeding. Just quiet observation with a morning trek where elephants roam freely at their own pace. One of our favourite things has got to be making snacks for the elephants (it gets a little messy!) and watching them enjoy it from a distance.Beyond the elephants, you’ll explore hidden trails in Doi Inthanon (Thailand’s tallest mountain!) with waterfall and rice paddy views, before spending the night in a rustic hut with a traditional northern Thai dinner and a campfire under the stars. What to ExpectExperience a truly ethical morning trek alongside free-roaming elephants — no rides, no touching, no feedingGet your hands (a little) dirty making tasty treats for the elephants! Then watch them munch away from a distance - it’s hands-off, but full of joy.Hike the stunning Pha Dok Sieo Nature Trail in Doi Inthanon National Park, with waterfall and rice field viewsVisit the beautiful King and Queen Pagodas and take in panoramic mountain viewsSpend the night at a peaceful hut with a traditional Northern Thai dinner and campfire under the starsEnjoy delicious local meals throughout the trip (Lunch and dinner on day one and breakfast and lunch on day two)Small group experience with a passionate, knowledgeable guideGood to KnowPick-up and drop-off included for Chiang Mai Old City hotels (extra charges outside the city apply)Requires a moderate level of fitness - the Pha Dok Sieo hike and jungle trek are manageable but can be slippery during the rainy season (May–October)All meals, drinking water, insurance, and park entrance fees includedThe terrain on this trip is a mix of natural jungle paths and mountain trails. The Pha Dok Sieo hike is about 2-3 hours long with some uneven but manageable sections, passing by waterfalls and terraced rice fields. The jungle walk with the elephants involves gentle trekking through lush, sometimes muddy, jungle paths.Good hiking shoes with grip are recommended, especially during wetter months.Important Note About Minimum TravelersOur standard tours require a minimum of 2 people to run. If there aren’t enough travelers booked for the date you choose, we may have to cancel or reschedule the tour. Of course, we’ll let you know in advance and offer you options if that happens!Facilities at the HutRustic but charming huts with single beds (shared rooms with 3-4 beds, depending on the hut)Towels are provided, but please bring your own toiletries such as toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, and shampooCozy campfire area for relaxing under the starsShared clean bathrooms with hot showersFiltered drinking water available throughout your stay

Jirayu is someone who couldn’t look the other way when he saw elephants being mistreated. After working at a place that claimed to care for elephants but didn’t, he walked away and chose a better path—one where elephants come first. Now, in Northern Thailand, Jirayu has created a space where elephants live freely and naturally, without rides or forced interactions. He also makes sure the local community is part of the journey, offering fair wages and supporting local charities. With Jirayu, it’s clear this isn’t just a job—it’s about doing what’s right for the animals, the people, and the land they share.
