Join Hien Minh Tea House and learn how to make the national tea of Vietnam in this Lotus Green Tea Workshop. Led by the 2016 Tea Master Cup Winner, this experience offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Vietnamese tea culture. During the 2-hour workshop, you will learn about the history of Lotus Green Tea and Vietnamese tea culture. Before you begin, enjoy guided meditation with Tibetan singing bowls. The Tea Master will also share the story of Hien Minh Tea House and the techniques for brewing great tea.Lotus Tea - The Drink of KingsIn Vietnamese culture, the lotus symbolizes honor. From ancient times, Vietnamese leaders have traditionally been regular drinkers of lotus tea. During the Nguyen dynasty, one of the most famous Vietnamese kings, Tu Duc, established the tradition of drinking tea infused with lotus nectar made from dew. During the nighttime, dew becomes saturated with the flowery aroma of the lotus to produce wonderful nectar, which is added to green tea. This combination of fresh flavors is so special and valuable that lotus tea was brewed only for kings in the past. Meet your host
Mr. Hung and his wife are the hosts of Hien Minh Tea, a traditional tea house in Hanoi. They are both passionate about tea culture and have a deep understanding of the nuances of tea. They are also involved in protecting and nurturing ancient Vietnamese tea trees. Their tea is made traditionally, with the tea master traveling to the mountains twice a year to make the tea. Mr. Hung and his wife opened Hien Minh Tea because they wanted to share their love of tea with others. They wanted to create a space where tea lovers could come together to enjoy the best lotus green tea, a revered tea in Vietnam that's less known outside the country.
