Meet your host
Luthfi Hakim is an engineer from West Sumatra with a deep love for exploration. Since 2009, he has travelled across Indonesia, eventually settling in Labuan Bajo in 2015. After years of experience with travel agencies and boats, he decided to build his own Phinisi boat—a classic wooden yacht crafted by skilled Konjo carpenters from South Sulawesi. It took two years to transform a cargo boat into a beautifully restored vessel, now sailing around Labuan Bajo, Sumbawa, Bali, and Alor. Beyond creating unforgettable journeys, Luthfi ensures his boat operates responsibly—using reusable tumblers, an oil-water separator to prevent pollution, sourcing local supplies, and actively participating in beach and ocean clean-ups to support the local community.
