Taste herbs, craft teas & sodas, and bring home your own creations.
Step into Joy’s garden and see what growing food in Singapore can really look like - not fussy or intimidating, but joyful, abundant, and full of small experiments. This is where gardening becomes a lifestyle: one that works with our tropical climate, using native and localised plants that thrive easily and give back generously. In this hands-on session, you’ll follow plants from seed to harvest, sample fresh herbs straight from the garden, and discover how they can be effortlessly woven into your everyday meals and drinks. Think simple, nourishing creations made with what grows well here, rather than complicated recipes or hard-to-find ingredients.Choose your adventure. Pick one of the three below:🌺 Roselle-to-Plate: Learn how to grow, harvest, and transform the crimson Roselle (aka the Asian Ribena) into food, drinks, and even crafts! Enjoy plenty of sampling too!🥂 Fermenting Herbal Sodas: Create your own probiotic soda blend to take home, with a fermentation kit and recipes included.🍵 Herbal Tea Blending: Explore tropical herbs, learn their benefits, and craft your own personalised tea blend.*Please indicate your choice of workshop in the booking remarks section.Come curious and leave inspired with new flavours on your palate, creations in your bag, and a fresh perspective on how plants can be part of your everyday life. What to ExpectA guided tour of the edible garden and hands-on time with local herbs and plantsTaste-testing throughout (snacks, drinks, and your own creations!)Step-by-step guidance – no prior experience needed in gardening, cooking, or fermentationYour own take-home kit: seeds, soda starter kit, or tea blend (depending on workshop chosen)Access to online resources and communities for ongoing tips, recipes, and inspirationGood to KnowDuration: ~1.5 hours – relaxed and beginner-friendlySmall-group setting, perfect for individuals, couples, or friendsAll materials, snacks, and refreshments are providedPlease indicate your choice of the three hands-on workshops in the booking remarks section

Meet your host
Chris and Joy are the friendly faces behind The Freestyle Farmers, a project they started in 2023 after years of digging in the soil themselves. What began with designing edible gardens soon turned into something more hands-on – teaching others how to grow, cook, and craft with what they grow. They’re all about making gardening approachable and practical, showing people how to make the most of their plants in everyday life. Their workshops are shaped by sustainable thinking, using upcycled materials and focusing on low-waste methods. With a good mix of creativity and care for nature, Chris and Joy are creating spaces where people can learn, connect, and grow something meaningful – even if it’s just on a balcony.
