Experience East Java's wild landscapes, volcanoes and turtle conservation
This epic 4D3N private adventure takes you deep into East Java’s raw and untamed landscapes — from the dramatic curtain waterfalls of Tumpak Sewu to the otherworldly sunrise at Mount Bromo, and finally to the remote turtle sanctuary of Sukamade Beach. You’ll chase waterfalls, hike volcanic terrain, go off-road through protected rainforest, and take part in a meaningful turtle conservation experience by releasing hatchlings back into the sea.Unlike typical Java itineraries, this journey goes beyond the usual highlights and into Meru Betiri National Park — a restricted conservation area that only a handful of travellers ever reach. The journey to Sukamade itself is an adventure, involving rugged jeep rides, forest tracks, and a stay in a simple eco-lodge right by the nesting beach. This trip is perfect for active travellers and nature lovers who want to truly experience Java — not just see it from afar. Expect early mornings, bumpy roads, and unforgettable moments in places most people never get to.What to ExpectTumpak Sewu Waterfall: Begin your journey at one of Indonesia’s most breathtaking waterfalls. A scenic trek takes you down into a lush canyon where dozens of streams cascade like a giant curtain of water.Bromo Sunrise Adventure: Ride a 4WD jeep to the viewing point to witness the majestic sunrise over Mt Bromo. It’s one of Indonesia’s most iconic views, and worth the early wake-up.Bromo Crater Hike: Ride the jeep across the lunar like landscape to get to the base of Mt Bromo, walk past Luhur Poten temple and climb 245 stairs to peer inside Bromo’s rumbling crater, one of Java’s most active volcanoes.Sukamade Turtle Experience: Reach one of the world’s most important turtle nesting sites by Jeep. At night, witness adult turtles laying eggs, and in the morning help release hatchlings back to sea — part of a real conservation effort.Good to KnowThe route to Sukamade is remote and bumpy: the Jeep ride is part of the adventure, but it’s not a smooth drive!Sukamade accommodation is very basic. Think cold showers and simple bedding — but it’s worth it for the experience.Turtle nesting happens all year, but the best chance to see hatchlings is February to March or April to May. As this is a natural process, nothing is staged or promised — which makes each encounter truly unforgettable when it happens.Lunch and dinner are not included, except for dinner at Sukamade. You'll stop at local warungs along the way. This is a private trip so the pace is flexible — your driver will discuss timing based on your preferences and local weather.Facilities1 night hotel stay at near Tumpak Sewu (private bathroom, hot shower, air cond)1 night hotel stay in Bromo (private bathroom, hot shower)1 night basic accommodation at Sukamade (cold shower, clean bedding)
