Review Body: When we started to consider to take a trip to the Yala National Park for some days, we contacted the Noel Rodrigo Leopard Safari company through their website. Immediately, we have received the most amazing and kind support from Cecile, who did not hesitate to go the extra mile for us. We got help in planning our trip and she even organized a reliable taxi driver for the 6 hours trip from Negombo to Kataragama/Yala National Park. Everything worked out well and the driver was waiting for us on time and he drove us to Kataragama where we were picked up from the fabulous Yala Noel rodrigo team. The trip from Kataragama to the camp was already exciting and when we arrived, we found us welcomed with a King Coconut drink and a refreshing towel. After our heartful and warm welcoming the team showed us around the camp and our luxury tent (tusker). I cannot find words to describe how amazing the tent was. There was a real bed, AC, shower, toilet and everything one has in a hotel room as well. The camp operates plastic free, and you will find glassboxes and glassbottles instead of plasticboxes and bottles. All of the employees are true naturalists and wildlife enthusiasts the same as earth lovers. The nature and the wildlife was treated with respect! Furthermore, I really need to mention the pool and the lounge. The pool was very clean and inviting to swim. It was an amazing feeling to refresh during the hot hours and it felt special to swim in the middle of the jungle. The lounge was always very welcoming and we had every night a briefing with the camp manager Pasi there. During the briefing and recap, we were served with any kind of drink (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and with freshly cooked sri lankan appetizers. This topic leads to the next big thing to mention! The food! The food in the camp was the most amazing food we have ever had! Throughout our whole Sri Lanka trip we have never found any food delicious, fresh, beautiful and tasty like we had it in the camp. The chef was really lovely and took care of special needs and also of our wish to have the food authentic hot and spicy. We had most of the typical Sri Lankan national dishes during our stay there such as Pitu, String Hoppers, dhal, different currys etc. We even had a little cooking course in the camp. All my friends are impressed of my coconut roti now:) The team organized special candle light dinners for us and we had a different spot of the camp for dinner every evening. Also, they organized a sparkling wine to celebrate the birthday we have spent in Sri Lanka. We went once on an early safari trip and a wonderful breakfast had been organized for us inside the park-was simply the best!!! The safari itself was incredible. Pasi our Camp Manager was a real expert and he knew everything and had an answer ready for all our questions. We loved to be with him on tour! He made our stay precious and he took always the best routes for us. He checked the amount of cars in the park sections to choose the best and least crowded Yala section for us in order to be able to observe the wildlife and nature in peace and not within 100 other cars! He avoided mass tourism and this was exactly what we wanted! Seeing leopards was our number 1 mission in Yala, yes maybe even our number 1 mission for all the Sri Lanka trip. We were more than rewarded when we saw a mother leopard with its cub and on top of that a male leopard the same day. Moreover, we saw many other animals such as elephants, water buffaloes, monkeys, mungos, crocodiles, deers, peacock, wild hogs, iguanas, turtles, eagles, beeeaters and many other beautiful birds etc. Thank you Pasi so much, you made our trip unique with your warm, open and welcoming way and your huge knowledge and deep respect towards the nature and the wildlife. We will definitely come back for staying a whole week with you very soon. It was really our best, tastiest and most impressive holiday ever! Thanks to the whole team at Yala Noel Rodrigo Leopard Safari Camp, you made our stay fabulous! See you soon, Michelle & Marco

Review Body: I honestly can not think of another word to describe Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safari near Wilpattu National Park besides WOW We were greeted at the designated pick up area on the main road by the always cheerful Dhanu and transported maybe two kilometres to the camp. As per normal it was very hot so the Lemon Grass scented chilled face clothes and a cold juice were just what the doctor ordered. Whilst we were given instruction on camp etiquette and safety by Dhanu his staff quickly and quietly carried our gear to the tent. And what a tent. I have done a lot of camping in my time but never like this. Spacious, airy, clean and practical. King sizes bed, flushing toilet and bucket shower. Sheer luxury. Once we had freshened up we walked back to the lounge area where we were greeted with the greatest surprise ever. Ice cold beer in mugs straight out of the freezer. It really doesn't get better than that.. Then came lunch in an open sided tent. We sat with the other guests and were able to hear all about their experiences on the morning safari. The food was exceptional. Absolutely incredible that the chef could produce such awesome tasty meals. He even catered for both preferences when it came to the curries, mild and local. I recommend the local if you like heat. At two in the afternoon we hopped on to the jeep and headed off to the national park. All the ticketing, permits and mandatory guide were done with ease and professionalism and off we went. There were maybe 50 other vehicles entering at the same time so to avoid congestion our guide took us down a separate road. Almost instantly we come across a Sloth Bear strolling along the track. After he is out of sight the engine is fired up and we continue for a short time until we stop again. None of the passengers knew what we were looking for but the guides did. Out of the bush came a lone male elephant and he wasn't real happy that we were there. Dhanu did his best to put everyone at ease but when it charged all ease went out the window. With complete calm and experience Dhanu gave a challenging shout at the elephant, who quickly turned and skulked off back into the bush. After that experience everyone was happy to just cruise along and hope to find the elusive Leopard. We were shown crocodiles, land and water monitor lizards, mongoose, peacocks and heaps of other birds and animals that just blur together into a real life 3D nature documentary with not stop information that can only come with experience. Yes we did get to see two Leopards but we weren't lucky enough to be right on top of them, but thats nature. They were beautiful, even at a small distance. Back at the camp we were given torches but didn't really need them as the paths were lit by solar powered lamps and there was lighting in the tent and ablutions. We were offered warm water for our shower but a cold shower really hit the spot. Just like lunch, dinner was unbelievable, although this time the table was set up in the open so everyone had a fantastic star studded ceiling enjoy. The pre dinner Gin and Tonics were followed by very nice wine accompanied the easy offerings perfectly. The bed was large and extremely comfortable which was great because we were back up at 4 30 to be ready for the morning safari. As all the guests were all leaving that day we had an early start to get the most in as possible. And well worth it. Not too many big animals but plenty of monkeys, deer, birds, mongoose and more all with the same great quality tutorage from Dhanu. Back to camp for an amazing local breakfast, shower, pack and transport back to the pick up point for our transport to continue on our journey. I seriously kicked myself for only booking one night. Do yourself a favour, do at least two nights or maybe three or four. I have no faults to find. The camp is run by an amazingly professional team that bend over backwards to ensure everybody, no matter what age, has the most realistic but comfortable safari experience you could ever ask for. Well done

Review Body: We stayed in Yala for 2 nights with the wonderful Noel Rodrigo crew. When we researched the numerous options for Yala we had one aim - we wanted to get the most authentic Yala national park experience with the least possible interference from other safari providers jeeps and Noel Rodrigo's Leopardsafaris delivered hands down on that in every aspect from the moment of arrival to the moment of departure. The welcome was genuine, the staff were knowledgable and caring - not only about us but the entire eco-environment which was hugely important to us. They knew their trails, their tracks and their biology and zoology and demonstrated that to us on each of our 4 x 4 hour game drives from the camp. The camp is really close to the national park entrance for Zone 1 and very accessible for the slightly longer drive to Zone 5 which is where the day trippers don't go. On each drive they picked up a National Park ranger/tracker which again is not done by most companies, and for us it paid dividends. We know that seeing leopards is a privilege and fully expected (and were warned) not to expect to see one. Well in 4 drives we saw 3, and they were incredible close encounters. One of those was without doubt due to the skills of the national park ranger's tracking expertise. Amongst the abundant flora and fauna were were elephants, including a less common tusker, water buffalo, antelope, eagles, and wild boar as well as mongoose and many peacocks! On return to the camp in the evening there is solar lighting and enough hot water in the tent's personal bucket-style shower which is just the best feeling after the day's spotting and that is then followed by the most incredible authentic Sri Lankan plentiful meal under the stars, prepared by the expert chef and served by the very same guys you've been with all day! The nights were at one with the sounds of nature, and the tent double bed provided long hours of deep sleep which we desperately needed (busy jobs at home). The gentle wakening in the pre-dawn period by the hosts was followed by a coffee and bikky by the jeep , and we headed off for the morning gave drive. The time goes simply too fast but those drives are just so rich with nature. Returning mid-morning for breakfast and chill out time before a large but healthy lunch allows for time to read or snooze on the lounge tent or with a beer by the pool surrounded by trees, land monitors and monkeys - the nice ones! Don't hesitate to book if you can.Its well worth the £!

Review Body: WOW If you are looking for luxury, this place won’t be for you. This was the final leg of our honeymoon in Sri Lanka and after experiencing luxury, this was the perfect way to bring us back down to earth ! If you are looking for a truly authentic experience of living and experiencing the Sri Lankan jungle, you simply will not find better. Our host was Passi who was phenomenal. From the second we arrived until the second we left, he, his amazing staff, and the jungle provided us with an experience we will never forget and treasure. So, on arrival we were greeted with a traditional Sri Lankan lunch, the food was incredible, more than you could possibly eat, and as soon as we had finished we headed off to the jungle so as to waste as little time as possible. The safari was magical, both in the evening and all day (a full 12 hours!!) the following day. We saw a leopard, a very rare jungle cat, a bear, multiple birds and reptiles, deer and buffalo and were chased by an elephant. Because of Passi’s incredible knowledge however (he is one of only 2/3 other fully qualified naturalists in the country) we felt incredibly safe and informed as to different species, behaviours, habits etc and left the jungle with significant more knowledge of Sri Lankan wildlife than before we entered. The accommodation is basic, which we loved, but again if you are after luxury, you won’t find it here (purposefully by the camp). We enjoyed an outdoor shower, an outdoor toilet, a very basic but perfectly comfortable tent, and enjoyed our two night stay listening to the sound of the jungle as we slept. Passi is available 24 hours via a “jungle phone” should he be required to move a snake or anything (they can’t get into the sleeping quarter of the tent BTW!) which gives a sense of reassurance, if needed. The staff are so nice at the camp, they arranged for a candle lit dinner for us under the stars ok both evenings, we had celebratory drinks and chatted under the fire. When we had to leave at 6am the following day they had even gone to the trouble of boiling us some water (has to be done over a fire!) to allow for an early shower, and prepared a hearty breakfast. I cannot praise Passi and the rest of the camp highly enough. If you’re going to Sri Lanka and you are planning on a safari in either Wilpattu or Yala, you simply have to experience this. AMAZING

Review Body: My wife and I just spent three days at Noel's Leopard Safari's in Wilpattu, as a disclaimer this is the second time we've stayed with Noel but the first in Wilpattu. Firstly as a Safari spot it's different to it's more popular cousin, Yalle. The area is bigger and the animal concentration is a little lower but what you lose with more regular wildlife spotting you make up with more peace and quiet, a larger are to explore and different animals to see. We were lucky (or perhaps skill - thanks Piysuh and Sam) to see leopards, sloth bears, an elephant, jackals, mongeese and numerous beautiful birds. As far as Noel's outfit goes - these guys are the best, the guides, like Yalle, love their jobs and most other operators seemed to just have one driver/guide, whereas Noel's team always goes out with twice the eyes and expertise! Piyush was our main guide and he obviously loved the animals, large and small. He took me snake and insect hunting in the camp at night, even after pretty much working a 18 hour day! We also spend a full day in the park on one day which meant while it's a lot of driving you can spend more time in further out the way places. Honestly if you want to really learn about behaviour and the lives of the animals and plats you have to use these guys, having a guide in the main seats with you is a must. The food was again amazing, some of the best we've had in Sri Lanka (though come on guys, put more spice in my curry!!). You definitely won't lose weight on this holiday. The staff are all lovely and while the accommodation is rustic (which it is meant to be) it's lovely sleeping in spacious tents with all the sounds of jungle around you. If I had to be critical I do think some of the tents need replacing (ours had dodgy zips) but I think this on it's way this year though. Simply put we had a magnificent time and will be back, the staff make the visit and it's lovely spending so much time in the wild. My understanding is that there is only one other operator comparable to these guys and even they fall short. You pay for what you get and if you really are keen to get to know the parks (and don't mind being pampered in the process) look no further.

Review Body: We really had a great time at Noel Rodrigo's camp in Yala National Park. We had the best of safari experience during our stay at Noel Rodrigo's Camp. From before our arrival they were very attentive with us to know the time we would arrive at the camp, that in order to receive us with a delicious fresh coconut water and a fresh towel that came very well for the heat that was doing. Then they gave us a detailed explanation about the necessary security measures to be inside the tent. Our room (Crocodile), very nice and cozy, with everything we needed to rest after the safaris. The food spectacular and the service unbeatable. All the staff very attentive and helpful. Each meal is served in a different area within the camp so it is very pleasant to enjoy all the surroundings and vegetation, etc. In regards to the safaris, we were fortunate to be guided by Noel personally, which undoubtedly made our safari experience something unforgettable! We learned a lot from Noel, who at all times was aware of both, us and the entire environment, searching and pointing out so many species. We were very fortunate since in the 4 half-day safaris we did, we had the opportunity to see many of the species, including 6 leopards (1 mother with 3 cubs, and 1 pair of leopards) wild pigs, elephants, spotted deers (so many), birking deer, eagles, owls, buffalos, among them some of the most beautiful and colorful birds I have ever seen. When we came back from the safari, we were spoiled with some snacks and drinks before dinner and then we really enjoyed dinner with Noel and some other guest, sorrounded by thousands of stars... When we were about to leave, Noel asked us to plan a tree, to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute a little bit to the environment, which I think is a great idea. It was definitely the best experience during our stay in Sri Lanka. It exceeded my expectations. The attention of Noel and his team was unbeatable, at all times they made us feel at home. It was an integral experience in all senses. I'm glad we chose the best option for a Safari experience in Sri Lanka. Thanks for everything! With love from Mexico, Ana and José

Review Body: Having only arrived in Sri Lanka at midnight the night before, we were whisked away to Wilpattu and into the exceptional care of the Leopard Safaris team. We simply could not have asked for a better introduction to Sri Lanka, it's wildlife, hospitality & cuisine (including a lesson on how to eat like a local!) are perfectly encapsulated by a stay at the Wilpattu camp. The camp layout is such that we had a great deal of privacy in our riverside tent while still feeling safe in the knowledge that help was nearby should we require it. The team have pretty much thought of every comfort possible for a camping experience while still maintaining a sense of being immersed in the nature we had come so far to see, with many birds, small reptiles, frogs and a pair of giant squirrels sharing our patch. Safaris into Wilpattu with Praneeth and Mahesh were brilliant and we were fortunate to see two leopards and a sloth bear amongst many other wonderful creatures in the park. Throughout each safari, Praneeth shared with us much knowledge of the park and its inhabitants and gave us an understanding of what to look out for (and why) as we explored different areas. However, despite all of our clever ideas, the wildlife always sets the agenda and when we did finally encounter a sloth bear he was snout deep in an ants nest - out in the open and right on the main road through the park, just where we least expected to find one! My only complaint about the food at the camp is there was so much we were filled to bursting at every meal! Everything was freshly prepared and so delicious that we didn't know when to stop! We were treated like royalty by the Leopard Safaris team – complete with a dual flush ‘throne’ in our ensuite - and nothing was too much trouble for the team. Serenaded to sleep each night by a variety of frogs, trilling nightjars, the whistling of a loris and the songs of a variety of unknown other creatures was immensely relaxing – the perfect jungle lullaby. Their songs were so relaxing and the bed so comfortable that I was sound asleep too quickly! An exceptional experience - thank you so much!

Review Body: I’d have been on safaris for all my life. My family and I visited Yala with Noel and his team. We had visited Block 1 and Block 5. 1) Firstly about Noel and his team - They do an amazing job in an environment that is very difficult for guides who want to do the right thing but the rules of the park are not enforced. Noel and his team were great and Block 5 we were able to have a wonderful Safari were there are fewer cars. As we were entering Block 5 we saw a Sloth Bear mother carrying her cub crossing the road. We saw a leopard with two cubs drinking water. This was due to Noel’s great knowledge of animal behavior. We waited at a drinking waterhole after the leopard and two cubs were seen, Noel suggested that we be patient and wait at a watering hole. After about 20mins of waiting we saw the mother and her two cubs. The cubs were drinking for about 10mins and playing for another 5mins. We were the only car. They gave us an experience that is unparalleled. So to Noel’s guiding team thank you ! 2) The camp has a great team and for 2 out of the 3 days we were treated by Noel’s team like family. Firstly my children;s accommodation was upgraded for the 3 nights and in the hot July weather they really appreciated that, thanks to Claudia. The Sri Lankan food at this camp is outstanding an the catering team is very accommodating and always providing an amazing service at all times. 3) the last but not least is Yala’s guiding rules. Block 1 is really good for spotting leopards, elephants, sloth bears and other animals however there are too many cars that make the experience harrowing for the animals and tourists. After a few attempts we decided to stay away from Block 1 as for one sighting there would be 50-100 cars. And to see the sighting the cars drive so fast with really very little care for the environment and the rules are not followed which means that the animals are harassed. In hope the rules are changed. But take nothing away Block 5 with Noel’s team is amazing !

Review Body: This was our first trip to Sri Lanka (2 adults and children ages 7 & 9 ). We also travelled to the cultural triangle and the coast, it was by chance that our first destination was Wilpatu National Park with Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safaris, but it enriched the rest of our trip, as well as being a highlight by itself. Piyush, our guide, was warm and engaging as well as being incredibly knowledgable about the wildlife, plants and the ecosystem. So that as we travelled through the rest of the country we could recognize more of the species we saw and understand some of the details like the relationship between the dragonflies and the mosquitoes. The camp was a delight to stay in: to shower staring up at the lush greenery; relax outside the tent trying to spot an otter in the river; relax after safari with a drink and conversation, it was amazing. The food was incredible, following the safari we stayed in 5 star hotels and I ordered Sri Lankan food at them all - the camp definitely had some of the best food. The camp feels private and relaxed, the safari team obviously has a great relationship with their neighbors and the local community. We had warm smiles and friendly greetings, especially from the family who had a small vegetable farm near by. Returning from the evening safari we would see one family member settling into night duty in the 'tree house' to watch for elephants who roam through the area. They try to keep the elephants off their crops by releasing noise flares. Leaving for safari in the morning, we would to see if their crop had made it through the night. I would strongly recommend this safari to anyone with an interest in plants and wildlife. Seeing the leopards, elephants and sloth bears is breathtaking but I think that how beautiful and intriguing the flowers and trees and insects are is a hidden gem. Incredible adventure.

Review Body: This was the best part of our trip to Sri Lanka! We have 3 children aged 5, 8 and 10 and there couldn't have been a better introduction to safari and Sri Lankan food and culture. The campsite is beautiful and so sensitively designed to fit with the jungle surroundings and the low tech nature of the camp. The food was the best we had on the whole trip and it was amazing for both us and the kids to try many kinds of Sri Lankan cuisine from street food to traditional dishes. One of the guides ate with us at every meal and it was wonderful to hear about their lives and experiences as well as learn about the food we were eating. This really made us feel like we were eating in a Sri Lankan home. They made less spicy versions for the kids who tried everything- we couldn't believe it. The most special meal was when we spent the day in the park and stopped to have lunch and a swim by the river. The guys actually brought all their cooking equipment to the park and cooked us the most delicious Sri-Lankan Street food there in the park- our best meal of the holiday. Our two guides were brilliant- incredibly experienced, highly educated, interesting, kind and funny. They did the upmost to make us feel really welcome, relaxed and educated about the animals and their plans for protecting them. They tried incredibly hard to find Leopards for us- at one point it felt like a stake out- which again we all loved. We saw the most beautiful birds- a very rare owl, crocodiles, land and water monitors, elephants, water buffalo, dear, peacocks but unfortunately no leopards. But we didn't mind as we had such a wonderful experience. The swimming pool was a god send as it was absolutely boiling while we were there!

Review Body: My 4-day stay at Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris near Wilpattu National Park in late July was the highlight of a two-week wildlife-focused trip Sri Lanka. My visit in the care of Dhanu and team was the most professional safari experience I’ve witnessed outside of Southern Africa. Dhanu was incredibly knowledgeable about all of the wildlife within Wilpattu (vastly surpassing the inexperienced amateur drivers I encountered at the big all-inclusive resorts near Yala) and he worked collaboratively with the National Park employees that joined us on our game drives. Dhanu also guided us in how to be first into the park so we were more likely to see animals before they’d been scared off by other vehicles. He excelled in locating sloth bears and tracking them to watering holes, while he also was an expert at helping me take the best possible photos of the wildlife we encountered. We even were lucky enough to see a leopard by a watering hole! The camp was immaculate and I appreciated their sincere efforts to design a fairly luxurious set up that was sympathetic to the surrounding environment. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating, and despite a somewhat rugged setting, they served us the best food that we had during the entire vacation. Dhanu even showed us how to mix our curries and dishes for the most delicious fusion of spices. If you are an animal lover used to more authentic wildlife encounters in other countries, Noel Rodrigo’s Leopard Safaris has to be at the top of your list because it is one of the very few operators in Sri Lanka that truly caters to a traveler looking for natural wildlife observation in a less harried environment.

Review Body: We stayed at Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safaris for two nights and went on four safaris. The jungle is wonderful and our host and the guide that joined us (same guy for each safari) were knowledgeable and entertaining. They knew that part of Yala Nature Reserve so well and the habits of the animals and birds so intimately that we were able to see leopard on each safari and not just hidden amongst the trees and undergrowth but up close by the track and, on one occasion, walking down the track up to our jeep. We didn't know it at the time but our sighting of a sloth bear, walking across the track just in front of us, was the luckiest of all sightings. The water buffalo, deer, monkeys and elephants were all there for us to observe and the amazing colours, calls and displays of the birds were unforgettable. The base for all this was a campsite with some fixed roofed areas where we were able to take a drink and enjoy meals which were, genuinely, amongst the best food we had during the whole month we were on Sri Lanka. They even have a small pool to take a dip after breakfast or before the early evening safari. The accommodation bears witness to their desire to be ecologically sound. Lighting is solar powered, water for washing is provided in an earthenware vessel and, although there is a shower, it is operated by releasing the holes in the bottom of a bucket suspended over your head. They do have more spacious, top of the range tents to stay in but we managed OK in a standard facility which was a snug bedroom tent inside a larger tent which afforded room to dress. Washing facilities, toilet tent and shower tent were all nearby.

Review Body: The Wilpattu camp was delightful and so much care was taken by the staff to make our stay easy and enjoyable. Cool towels were handed to us as soon as we stepped into the camp.We dined under the stars by paraffin lamp with the rangers and other guests and ate some of the very best food of our whole Sri Lanka/Maldives trip. Myself and my 14 year old son stayed only two nights but did 3 safaris and saw so much. This is glamping. Very clean and comfortable zip up tents each in their own well appointed pitch and outside toilet and shower attached. All well lit by paraffin lamps all night. It felt like a great adventure. We were up at 4.45am (tea coffee fruit and snacks available) for the first safari of the day to get the best spots to see animals, then greeted with delicious breakfast on our return to camp. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The Safari itself was very organised and the rangers were all very respectful of the animals and had expert knowledge to share throughout the Safaris. They are passionate about the wildlife and I now follow them on Instagram to keep up with the playful lives of the two beautiful leopard cubs we were lucky enough to watch! Before we said goodbye my son was invited to plant a mango tree...a lovely touch. Everyone here is totally dedicated to protecting and preserving the National Parks and it's a joy to be a part of it for a couple of days. We saw so many amazing animals and such beautiful landscape at Wilpattu that I want to return one day. Thank you for everything.

Review Body: I cannot speak highly enough of Leopard Safaris and the overall safari and camping experience they provide. If you want to see wildlife, experience the national parks, eat delicious food and camp in a natural setting, the experience with Leopard Safaris is unmatched. Dhanu and the team at Wilpattu was incredible, and not only provided impeccable service, but they also took the time to tell us stories and so many interesting facts about the country and its history and current events. The guides are also so good at finding wildlife and are very knowledge about each of the animals. And most importantly, they are able to communicate their knowledge to you. Additionally, the tents are more than just clean and comfortable, they are in a beautiful setting and you wake up surrounded by nature. From our tent, we could hear lots of animals and had views of the small waterways all around our camp site. Although we were there for the safaris and the wildlife, one thing we were expecting was to have so much amazing food. Dhanu and his team took the time to explain the dishes and how they are part of Sri Lankan culture. Lastly, it was wonderful to get to stay in a tent instead of a hotel. It really enhanced our safari experience and we gained an appreciation of all of the small animals that are part of the parks ecosystem. It was just a wonderful experience and we are so grateful to Noel Rodrigo, Dhanu and the whole team at Leopard Safaris!

Review Body: From the moment we arrived to our departure 2 days later we were submerged in the life of the park. Dhanushke and his team looked after us brilliantly. We stayed in the camp that is on the edge of the national park, set by a rivulet that comes alive a night... we slept in a tent with rustic but excellent facilities on a very comfortable bed, listening to the endless frog calls. The food was really delicious, and a great choice of drinks were offered in the evening (the only time we really enjoyed a gin and tonic and a glass or 2 of wine during our trip). We did 4 drives into the park, 2 in the afternoon and 2 at the crack of dawn. Wilpattu park is less busy than others, so there were only 10 or so vehicles going in at the same time as us. Dhanu never stopped telling us about the park and its wildlife, and as an added bonus taught us how best to photograph nature and animals. If I had only seen deer, jackals, birds and the odd crocodile I would have been happy, but we saw a sloth bear and 3 leopards, one of which was marking her territory with us following her at a discreet distance. We traveled in the park with a driver, Dhanu our guide and a young park attendant, so plenty of eyes to spot things of interest. We rescued a small loris, so we also saw preservation of wildlife in action. A fantastic 5 star stay in a camp that was both relaxing and educational and unbelievably beautiful. Thank you to all the team!

Review Body: Absolutely fantastic and a MUST DO! Noel’s Leopard Safaris is very well run by Noel and Cecile and visitors feel that there is a lot of heart’s blood in it! Very clean, beautiful campground with spacious, well equipped, clean tents which are constructed to keep the nasty mosquitoes out, comfortable beds, each tent with own toilet and shower with warm water if desired. Delicious snacks, heavenly food and wine - of the best we had during our 3-weeks-vacation - and extremely friendly staff! Upon the new guest’s arrivals and each time when coming back from the safaris, staff members warmly welcome the guests with refreshing towels and pocket lamps in the evening. The safaris are amazing. The drivers and staff members have a great knowledge and point out the animals we would never see with our unskilled eyes. They drive slowly or stop the jeeps, so the visitors can take great pictures. In addition, the jeeps are super well equipped. There are snacks, drinks and binoculars for everyone, and with only 6 seats everybody has a great view. On each safari, we saw different animals: leopards, elephants, crocodiles, monkeys, male peacocks trying to bewitch females with their colorful fans, and many more. It’s an adventurous, exciting outdoor experience with a great touch of luxury. Leopard Safaris is an absolute must do and is with no doubt worth the money. We can recommend it to anyone and will certainly do it over again!

Review Body: I can't say enough about Noel Rodrigo's Leopard Safari in Wilpattu. We haven't stopped talking about it since returning from our honeymoon! From the second you arrive at the camp, you are greeted with cold towels, fresh drinks and hospitality that doesn't stop during your entire stay. We were lucky to have Praneeth as our guide for the safari. He is incredibly knowledgeable about all the wildlife you come across in the Park. He and his team are able to spot so many things the average person would never even notice! From the smallest birds hidden in the trees to leopard tracks in the sand, they will work hard to make sure you can see as much of the Park's wildlife as possible. We were lucky to have an amazing leopard sighting, but would have been happy without because the experience was so awesome. We also saw water buffalo, wild boar, crocodiles, land monitors and so much more. Besides the safari, the food is delicious and worth it's own review! Every meal at the camp is an authentic Sri Lankan dish and the chef is fantastic. We especially enjoyed the string hoppers, coconut roti, all of the curry dishes, and the fresh fruits and vegetables (all sourced locally). At night, you'll enjoy a candlelit dinner under the stars. It added the perfect romantic touch to our day of adventure! Don't miss this amazing opportunity or be afraid of sleeping in a tent. It is incredible!!

Review Body: We are not a camping-adventurous type family, nor have we a great knowledge of animals or wildlife. While I normally plan the trips for my self online, this time I left the planning of our trip to Sri Lanka to Sri Lanka in style, and Noel’s Rodrigo Camping was a major surprise. I really did not expect to sleep in a tent. I had browsed quickly through the website and assumed all were cabin-lodge type. However, the delux tent also added that extra bit of adventure that made eveything of our stay at the camping superb. Staff is extremely kind, knowledgeable and fun. Dinner under the stars with other guest fun and really interesting. Dinner alone under the same setting, magical. Food amazing (the best so far in Sri Lanka), beds súper confortable, shower a challenge (😄). And then, the safari experiences at the Yala National Park, priceless. Our Ranger, Sanka, made it an unforgettable experience in every way for us and the children (9 to 6 years old). Waking up 4:45, rushing to the park, wandering what animals we would meet... we saw an amazing array of wildlife: tuskers, elephants, dancing male peacocks, cocodriles, eagles, Indian rovers, wild boars, etc.... and, the extra bonus of 2 leopards. I say bonus because there is really so much to see that you should not miss I tiny bit of all the rest. We will always cherish our stay at the Noel’s Rodrigo Park and its staff.

Review Body: Staying at NRLS camp is a complete experience. The luxury tented accommodation includes a comfortable king size bed ( air conditioning available in some), with separate bathroom ( hot shower, basin & toilet)- it is well appointed & clean. The tents are private and set amongst the trees (we were visited by several monkeys- which were not annoying). Full board included all meals, snacks & drinks, which were served in a family/dinner party type arrangement- allowing us to have wonderful chats and conversations with other travellers. Food was mainly authentic Sri Lankan- beautifully presented & excellent quality. Staff were courteous & friendly. Of course, the highlight was the safaris ( two per day). Our guide was outstanding - knowledgeable about Yala National Park and the Sri Lankan wildlife, responsive to our questions, flexible with our requests and he offered helpful photographic tips too. The jeeps are clean & well equipped ( but as with 4 wheel drives expect to go over some bumpy roads & through water). During our 4 safaris, we were lucky to spot 2 leopards- one was a special sighting ( close up for about 15 minutes without any other jeeps present), several elephants and many birds. Unfortunately - no sloth bears sighted, but naturally there are no guarantees for wildlife encounters. Overall this was a fun experience & I would highly recommend it.

Review Body: My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay with Leopard Safaris. From the outset our guides Sam (Sameera) and Piyush were eager and enthusiastic to show us all that Wilpattu had to offer and were willing to spend as much time as we wanted exploring the Park. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful, the meals were delicious and well presented, the accommodation was comfortable with attention to every little detail. I enjoyed my cooking lesson and will be trying it out now that I am back in Canada. The tree planting at the end of our stay was a very nice touch as it is part of Leopard Safaris attempt to reclamate what was previously a farm. This is not an hotel, It is a tented camp like those in East and Southern Africa. There is solar powered electricity and flush toilets but the showers are outside the tent in a separate enclosure with a bucket shower arrangement. We found the accommodation to be comfortable and everything we expected having been on multiple safaris in Africa. Wilpattu was not like Yala - it was not crowded with hundreds of off road safari vehicles all vying for position at a sighting. The leopard sighting was a highlight for me and we had good sightings of a variety of raptors and other birds. Missed out on the sloth bear - maybe next time!
