Kamalakshi Saikia is an Indian artist based in Singapore. Kamalakshi grew up in Assam. Her extensive work on watercolour florals, over several decades, is a foil for her work with the abstract and the experimental, the latter being a legacy from her days as a textile designer with Satya Paul. Today, she works out of her studio in Singapore, creating designs on cloth, paper, canvas, and other materials. Experimenting with different surface design techniques – dyeing, stamping, printing, applying resists, stencilling, stitching, and embellishing, amongst others – she most enjoys pushing at the edges of possibility.
