Highlight of the trip
Me and my fiancé really enjoyed our time on the boat, we were picked up from Hanoi after getting off the sleeper train and taken to the port, the staff in the office and on board the boat were lovely and couldn’t do enough for you, the food was also a highlight with options for everyone, we tried lots of different sea food that we wouldn’t have usually tried so that was nice. We had a room with a a balcony and it was so nice to sit on and just watch the view, we did a cooking class where we learnt how to make Vietnamese spring rolls and then ate them with dinner which we really enjoyed. We also kayaked for an hour around the nicest views, and chilled in the evening on the top deck drinking wine and just relaxing! Would definitely recommend this boat it was a smaller boat with only 10 cabins which I would definitely do again as it was the perfect amount and it felt more personal with the staff. One of the staff offered me pineapple juice on day one and I explained I was ok because I’m allergic and on the second day pineapple was in the dessert which I didn’t mention because I don’t like makings a fuss I was just going to leave it and without me saying anything he’d changed mine and added strawberry instead because he remembered from the day before and I thought that was such a lovely touch
Would recommend and would love to do the cruise again
1 night cruise in Halon Bay
We had a wonderful 2 days cruise. Our tour guide Kevin was superb! Nice, friendly, relaxed but very well organised at the same time. A real example for all guides!! This also counts for the rest of the crew. Real fun to do a tour in a canoe, wonderful food and ambiance on board. We also enjoyed the cooking class and the early tai chi! I would recommend this tour to everyone and definitely ask for Kevin as your tour guide.
Garden bay with Quang
Amazing experience! Food was wery good and we had a very beautiful room with great view! Crew was super kind! Just recomend to take more chairs in the rooftop to have a dinner outside and enjoy the bbq Maria and Maurizio
We were booked on Legend but changed to 01 cruise instead at the last moment. Had to negotiate rates and spent a while confirming the booking. However, the trip was fantastic and well managed by the crew. The food was good. Special thanks to Quang for making the trip memorable.
The boat we were on wasn’t the boat we paid for, so not a great start. It was pretty run down and we’re sold a 4* 2012 made and 2016 refurbished ship. The cabin, bathroom and the dining areas were ok.
The 3 days/ 2 nights schedule was patched up among other groups and it didn’t feel like a proper cruise but a combination of different excursions. We’re the only people doing 3/2 rather than 2 days/ 1 nights.
Food was good, but the same every day... see above, not a real 3 day cruise.
The guide and ship manager would score poorly, some bar staff tried a bit harder.
The positive was the cruise was pretty empty the first night so felt more relaxing.
Overall, there are better options to visit this spectacular location than Garden Bay/ Tonkin cruises.
