We visited the camp for an overnight stay combined with 2 Yala National Park safaris - one on the afternoon we arrived and one the following morning. Marlon, our safari ranger, was amazing and such wealth of knowledge about the park, it’s animals and the huge variety of bird life there. His enthusiasm for his job and his determination to get us to see as much as we could was very commendable. Although the weather started out poorly on our first drive, we saw a large array of bird life, including peacock displays everywhere, many varieties of deer and other animals and reptile life. This drive was topped off with a 10 minute display by a juvenile leopard just before we had to leave the Park for the night. What a magnificent animal! The following morning our dawn safari captured a very close and lengthy encounter with a young bull elephant, sightings later of a small female elephant herd with calves, wild boar, crocodile, mongoose, etc, etc. All in all 2 great trips and we feel very privileged to have seen what we saw. The camp bills itself as “glamping” and largely lives up to that description. The staff are wonderful, very pleasant and helpful. We were welcomed on arrival, provided with a Sri Lankan lunch and a short period of relaxation before the afternoon drive. Dinner that night was under the stars and was a BBQ created expertly by the camp chef Nima, who has a lengthy culinary resume prior to coming here. The sleeping tents are well furnished and very comfortable, equipped with en-suite facilities, mosquito nets and power. The staff have an obvious affinity with the outdoors and nature and they show it! Great job! Some small useful improvements would improve stays, such as letting guests know that wine and beer (or any alcohol for that matter) is not available on-site and advise guests if they wish to, to bring their own. It is not easy to obtain locally, but these are really small things when compared to the overall wonderful experience. We are on a world tour and this experience is one of the highlights of our trip. Well done Marc and your staff

Firstly apologies for the delay in our review, no reflection at all on our stay. We absolutely loved Camp Lepoard. The camp was actually just closing for the end of the season, but we were accommodated as it was during our honeymoon in beautiful Sri Lanka. We had the whole camp to ourselves, not only a beautiful location but peaceful too. Just the inquisitive elephants with us. I cannot express enough how welcomed & looked after we were, from the moment we arrived. A lovely well maintained camp with beautiful Sri Lankan food. The Safari was fantastic, exciting, informative & fun. Always first in the queue with our spotter & Marc doing his absolute best to ensure we saw as much as possible. His knowledge amazed us! Thankyou for such a memorable experience & wonderful memories of our stay in a Sri Lanka. A truly beautiful country with beautiful kind people. I would definitely recommend this Safari & you should book with confidence.

Camp Leopard gave us the lowest expectations with regard to glamping and it’s accommodation facilities but it turned out to be the best experience ever. The team including Pramudith and his crew were amazing and they didn’t hesitate to amaze us until the end of the last hour or our stay. The food is great and authentic but fitted our taste buds just right. The accommodation was cozy and way beyond what should be expected in such rural areas. The tour is the most magnificent part of the journey and that experience is breathtaking. Their expert driver and guide did their job above and beyond. We were able to encounter 3 sightings of leopard, and 3 sloth bear sightings which is the hugest achievement for us as we were just amateurs at this safari experience. Great staff, great leadership and so much potential but we also hope that they maintain this same experience in the many years to come.

Loved it here! Were greeted very warmly by the staff. Given cold towels which were very welcome after a day on safari. The rooms are amazing. An authentic clamping experience. Hot water and a/c which was much appreciated. Dinner was delicious. They organized our safari and our driver and guide were amazing. We had 3 leopard sightings, 2 bear sightings, saw elephants, buffalo, warthogs, deer, peacocks and tons more animals. Very satisfying!

What a place and what a wonderful group of people you will find at Camp Leopard. Accommodation was glamping style and comfortable considering the remote location. The campsite had hammocks and common areas to relax and unwind, along with a fantastic night time ambience. The meals were exceptional - some of the best food we have had whilst in Sri Lanka. All of the team would regularly go out of there way to make us comfortable, answer any questions and educate us on the safari pre and post. We did three drives and were fortunate to see a leopard. The team really did everything possible to help us secure the sighting which included some pretty exciting 4WDing to chase up a lead!! Can't thank the team enough for such an enjoyable experience and stay. Highly recommended!

Can you arrange transportation to/from Yala National Park?

Yes sure! If you're coming from any other parts of Sri Lanka (e.g. Colombo) to Yala National Park for your safari, or you need to head from Yala National Park to any other parts of Sri Lanka after your safari, we can provide a private car transfer. This will cost US $60 per 4-person car, per one-way transfer. Please do indicate in your booking form if you require this transfer.

Which Yala National Park Blocks do you visit?

Most of our safari partners visit Block 1 as that is the one that is closest to the towns of Tissamaharam and Kataragama where most of the hotels are. It is also the block which has the most wildlife. Block 5 is visited on occasion. The other blocks require special permission for entry. If you have a certain block in mind, do let us know and we can see if we can arrange!
