Day 1: Labuan Bajo - Rangko Cave - Pulau Burung - Pulau Kelapa - Sabolo Kecil
Labuan Bajo - Rangko Cave - Pulau Burung - Pulau Kelapa - Sabolo Kecil

Today you'll snorkel in crystal clear waters and see beautiful Rangko Cave

Accommodation: Alcira Phinisi Boat - Cabin 4 - Shared Cabin

  • Start off with a visit to Rangko Cave, a beautiful hidden away cave with a glowing saltwater pool!
  • Then head to Pulau Burung which is great for snorkeling. Burung Island is a sparkling hidden gem amidst the sea of Komodo islands that only few travellers have heard of and visited. Here, you can immerse yourself in the hypnotizing azure waters and powdery white sand without having to fight over crowds
  • Visit Pulau Kelapa (Soraya Besar) which is an idyllic island with coconut trees and rich in marine life crossings.
  • Head next to Sabolo Kecil. When you snorkel in this area, you will be amazed by the beautiful and colourful coral reefs. Even the perfect white sandy beaches are worth plenty of visits. The natural scenery offers a beautiful view of the island’s dramatic rolling hills.
  • Overnight in Sabolo
Day 2: Siaba Island - Kelor Island - Menjerite - Kalong Island - Rinca Village
Siaba Island - Kelor Island - Menjerite - Kalong Island - Rinca Village

Today you'll hike to see panoramic views, snorkel at Turtle Bay and see the migration of bats at sunset

Accommodation: Alcira Phinisi Boat - Cabin 4 - Shared Cabin

  • In the morning, snorkel at the beautiful Pulau Siaba (Turtle Bay!).
  • Turtle Bay is ideal for less experienced snorkellers as the reef is quite shallow and large areas are protected from strong currents. The visibility here is great, and if you're lucky you'll spot turtles over the shallow reef.
  • Head to Pulau Kelor for trekking 30-45min.
  • From the top of Pulau Kelor, you'll get a panoramic view of Komodo National Park.
  • Next go to Menjerite, another beautiful spot for snorkeling with clear waters and colourful fish. Then head to Pulau Abu Abu, another snorkeling site.
  • For sunset, the boat will sail to Pulau Kalong (Flying Foxes).
  • At sunset you'll see the migration of hundreds, if not thousands of bats.
  • Overnight in Rinca village (Refill Water)
Day 3: Pulau Segando - Rinca Island - Nusa Kode
Pulau Segando - Rinca Island - Nusa Kode

Today you'll trek to see endangered Komodo Dragons in the wild

Accommodation: Alcira Phinisi Boat - Cabin 4 - Shared Cabin

  • After breakfast, swim in the turquoise waters of Pulau Segando.
  • Relax and enjoy being in one of the most beautiful National Parks in the world.
  • Next head to Loh Baru at Rinca Island.
  • Trek for 45 minutes to 1.5 hours with a ranger and if you're lucky you'll spot wild endangered Komodo Dragons.
  • Overnight in Nusa Kode.
  • For intrepid travellers, Nusa Kode is genuinely off the beaten track. Called Horseshoe Bay, here you can often witness wild Komodo dragons menacingly strolling the shore.
  • The whole area of Nusa Kode is uninhabited, and visitors can be assured of a peaceful holiday away from the crowded city and less human interference.
Day 4: Nusa Kode - Padar Island - Pink Beach - North Pink Beach - Pulau Sabita
Nusa Kode - Padar Island - Pink Beach - North Pink Beach - Pulau Sabita

Today you'll see stunning views at a lesser visited part of Komodo National Park

Accommodation: Alcira Phinisi Boat - Cabin 4 - Shared Cabin

  • In the morning, stay around Nusa Kode which is an island paradise that's great for snorkeling
  • Head to Padar Island for one of the most iconic views of Komodo National park. It'll require a 20-30 minutes short but steep trek up the hilltop but it's totally worth it!
  • Then visit the aptly named coral hued Pink Beach. This is one of the rare pink beaches in the world. Here you can relax on the beach, swim or snorkel.
  • Then trek to the North of Pink Beach to see the sunset. The trekking will take 30 minutes and show you a side of Komodo National Park that very few people get to see.
  • Overnight in Pulau Sabita (Jellyfish at night)
Day 5: Pulau Bugis - Manta Point - Taka Makassar - Gili Lawa
Pulau Bugis - Manta Point - Taka Makassar - Gili Lawa

Today you'll get the chance to snorkel in search of incredible Manta Rays

Accommodation: Alcira Phinisi Boat - Cabin 4 - Shared Cabin

  • Visit the lesser known parts of Komodo National Park - Pulau Bugis 1 and Pulau Bugis 2
  • Snorkel at Manta Point, one of the best sites in the world to see Manta Rays.
  • Swim in the clear waters of Taka Makassar.
  • Overnight in Pulau Gili Lawa. Here you can trek for 30 mins to see the beautiful sunset atop a hill, or just relax with the sweeping views.
  • In the evening, you’ll observe a sky studded with thousands of twinkling stars while having a delicious dinner on the upper deck.
Day 6: Gili Lawa - Tatawa Besar
Gili Lawa - Tatawa Besar

Enjoy incredible views and swim with beautiful coral reef

  • Visit Pantai Gili Lawa Laut for great views, incredible snorkelling and beautiful coral reef.
  • Then relax at Pulau Tatawa Besar. Here you can swim, enjoy the views or continue to snorkel and enjoy the colourful corals.
  • Sail Back to Labuan Bajo

Captain Komodo

Sebastian, the owner of Alcira is really knowledgable about sailing and his goal when he designed Alcira Phinisi was to provide guests with a feeling of comfort and space. You'll find relaxing spaces on his boat, where you can read a book or take a nap while sailing from one island to another.

Two night trip with captain Komodo Awesome trip Went with 11 and 13 year old girls who are competent swimmers but were anxious about the sea. The team were amazing and did everything to make our kids comfortable to the point that they are begging to go back. Thanks to everyone who gave us a wonderful trip. Accomodation bit cramped in the 4 bedded bunks for a family. The trip is really only for families who can swim. The captain was very careful about only letting us into water if it was safe. Both Sam and Adi were excellent and all our safety was paramount

Amazing introduction to the islands We took a 3 night 4 day tour with Captain Komodo that I would recommend to anyone. The private room was bigger than I expected and even had its own large deck. The crew is friendly and takes you to all the best spots. This is definitely a trip that I would love to go on again. This is a great idea for a holiday with friends.

Great Chef, Crew and Doubles Room Great chef, crew and doubles room. Unfortunately, the speedboat got broken and unusable in 2 out of the 3 days trip. The itinerary could be more streamlined to be more effective too, since the phinisi type boat is big and slow, we only managed to spend very little 30 minutes in the Rinca Island (the only place to see the komodo dragons for now). Some of the snorkeling spots they took us to were pretty barren, wasting a lot of time. Plus, the unfortunate weather that prohibited us in visiting the Manta Bay sucked further for our trip.

best boat trip I ever had We booked the Captain Komodo for 3 days / 2 nights to explore as many islands and snorkeling spots as possible. The crew of 7 did such an amazing job making sure we had the best time possible. Every evening after dinner we discussed the plan for the next day and always had the opportunity to adjust how long we wanted to stay where spontaneously. What really blew us away was the quality of the food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner really exceeded any of our expectations by a long shot, so don’t worry about food, you will be very well taken care of. Us 3 guys never managed to eat everything the chef served up for us. 3 days in the boat was the perfect amount of time for us. Oh and definitely do the sunrise hike on Pulau Padar, it’s absolutely worth getting up early for and was the highlight of our trip.

The perfect crew to explore Komodo! Captain Komodo and the crew are for sure one of a kind! They will always go the extra mile to make sure that you have the greatest experience possible! Following a friends recommendation my friend and I went for the 3days (2 nights) adventure and enjoyed every second of it! Super smooth organisation from the beginning until after the trip was over. Adi and the crew where just perfect: always having the biggest smile, super helpful with everything, always making sure that we were safe and happy. Also making sure that you'll get a great picture, so that even as a solo traveller you'll have amazing memories to look back to. Adi the manager on boat speaks super English and taught us some Indonesian together with the other guys :) We can only agree with the others that the boat itself, the room, bathroom and the food is 5 out of 5. Overall, really recommending this trip! Super stoked to explore Flores & Komodo with Captain Komodo!

How much are Komodo National Park fees?

Komodo National Park fees are complicated. They depend on: the islands visited (which is weather dependent), whether it's a weekday or a weekend, whether the guest is a foreigner or a local, and the number of people on the boat (as ranger fees are shared). This is why no two people will tell you the same number when asked about fees!

The fees are also complicated by the fact that they're set by the national government and paid directly to Jakarta. So there is little visibility on changes from time to time.

This is why we usually advise international guests to bring cash of between IDR 350K to IDR 460K per person per day for weekdays and between IDR 400K to IDR 520K per person per day for weekends. This is more than you need, but it avoids you ending up short of cash if the boat doesn't have too many people or the fees suddenly change!

A few of our trips include the fees in the price. You can see it listed in the inclusion list. If this is the case there is no need to bring cash with you.

Can I still visit Komodo National Park in Jan-March rainy season?

While you can still visit Komodo National Park during the rainy season in Jan-March, there is a higher risk of boat trips being cancelled due to the weather.

The risk is lowest for the 1-day speedboats (as they are more stable) so if you are going Jan-March, we would highly recommend doing a 1-day speedboat trip. Although the 2D1N trips are still sailing during the rainy season, there is a slightly higher risk that the 2D1N trips might be cancelled due to the weather. The 3D2N trips do not tend to sail during Jan-March.

Given the unpredictability of the weather, the cancellation could happen at any time (even the morning of the trip). We will keep you updated as soon as we can if the weather prediction is not favourable for your trip.

If your trip is cancelled due to the weather, you can choose to receive a full refund, OR reschedule your trip for the next day (if weather permits). So if you're travelling from Jan-March to Komodo, please plan some extra days for your trip so you have additional days to try again, even if your original trip is cancelled!

Is the itinerary guaranteed?

The itinerary for Komodo National Park is very weather dependent, as the journey takes place out in open waters. Some days the currents are very strong, and it might not be safe to go to certain islands. We know this can be frustrating if you had your heart set on specific spots, but please be assured that the boat operators will do their very best to make sure you see the dragons and the highlights of the park - even if it's not identical to the itinerary here. A visit to Komodo is quite the adventure, so please do be prepared to embrace some level of uncertainty!
