Justin and his friends are Bali through and through. They grew up exploring hidden trails and finding the tastiest local eats (ask them about their secret Babi Guling spot!). Now, they're all about sharing that insider knowledge with visitors. With Justin and his team, it's less about being a guide and more about being a mate showing you their favourite spots.

Hi! Is the climb up steep, and how much are we covering in terms of distance? I was considering bringing my parents (early 50s, early 60s). They're moderately fit, and comfortable with beginner level walks and activites. Would this activity be harsh on the knees, or is there a lot of pressure exerted while climbing up?
RM, 19 Mar 2024
The climb up Mount Batur is considered moderate and can be steep in some areas. The trek usually covers a distance of about 5-7 kilometers round trip.'s great to hear that your parents are moderately fit and comfortable with beginner level walks and activities. However, it's important to note that the terrain can be rocky and uneven some parts, which might exert some pressure on the knees during the climb. We recommend wearing good hiking shoes for better grip and support.
We would like to add on the Trunyan Village, but we are just 2 people. Is this possible or do we need to join a group for this add on part of the tour?

Hi Paula, Yes, processing the booking for 2 people is fine since this is a private tour.
Is the Caldera hike different from the Mt Batur summit hike? We do not want to do the summit hike but something more easy.
Manoranjan, 19 Nov 2023
The Caldera hike is different from the Mount Batur summit hike. The Caldera hike is considered less strenuous and less crowded compared to the summit hike. It offers a unique view of Mount Batur, Lake Batur, Mount Agung, and even Mount Rinjani in the distance. This trek is mostly known only to locals and is one of Bali’s hidden gems. If you're looking for an easier trekking experience, the Caldera hike would be a great choice.
