Review Body: The Old Frankland was one of our favorite hotels on this trip, we had a great time during our stay and we highly recommend it. Old Frankland was a great example of true Sri Lankan hospitality. The owner, Nalin built this place from nothing with vision and hard work. He started with a tea & pepper plantation and he is now opening it to tourists. He took us for a walk around the property and explained about tea, pepper & cinnamon. It was clear he loves his property and the community that helped him work on it. The staff is super friendly and went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. 'You happy, me happy' as they kept saying while cooking up a storm (the food was delicious!) or playing drums & singing for us. The views are out of this world so make sure to spend enough time in the pool, just staring over the edge, with a beer in your hand... We've been upgraded to the honeymoon suite (thank you!) which is massive and has the comfiest bed and best pillows (filled with their own cotton!) we had on the whole trip! Thank you again for the outstanding hospitality, we'd love to come back once the jungle rooms are finished! We seriously enjoyed the location and for us the remoteness added to the charm, but we understand that some might prefer a location closer to Kandy. Please be aware it is a bit of a drive and there aren't any facilities around.

Review Body: This hotel is a real gem in the heart of Sri Lanka. The views are breathtaking and the only sound you will hear are the birds singing all day. The hotel has just been completely refurbished in contempory boutique design with lush silks and the most comfortable furniture in Sri Lanka. The bathrooms are large and minimalist with chunky Italian fittings. The infinity swimming pool offers a fantastic view through the tea plantaion hills and vallies. The staff made me feel very special from the moment I arrived. There was a young Russian couple here who loved it so much they are returning in August for their wedding. But the best if all is the food. You like me will never want to leave. I started my trip attending a very posh 5star wedding that held 5 parties over 3 days in Colombo's finest hotels BUT the food here is by far the best! They love to take you around the plantation and you will be greeted every day with waves and smiles from the tea pickers. Also arrange to be picked up from the local train station and for the manager to take you out on tours. My favourite memories are of sitting in the shade by the pool watching the colourful birds play sipping great tea served in a China cup with very ginger biscuits. I will defiantly be returning to my new home from home.

Review Body: View from the hotel and infinity pool is amazing (in the middle of nowhere in the mountains, even when you are in the shower you have an amazing view) -food was really really good!! (They even prepared sandwiches for us very early in the morning since we had to leave and also soy meat in the afternoon since I’m vegetarian) -owner is so nice (he took us for a walk around his land and drove us to the station the next morning and in general always asked what we needed) -very good WiFi connection, hot shower and amazing king size bed -all in all 100% recommended and we will come back as soon as the jungle cabanas are finished :-)) -not really a minus because we loved the location but since it is very remote and there is nothing around you are very dependent on the hotel in terms of food, transportation etc., it takes approx. 20 min to the next small city and 30 min to Kandy but the road is pretty bad (however that’s why it’s so amazing in the first place because there is absolutely nothing)

Review Body: Fantastic location and beautiful hotel and staff. This was our favorite place to stay on our trip. The weather is much cooler up here in the hills which was grest after being at the beaches in the south surfing where it us so hot. We had all the windows open at night as there are no mosquitis. It was very romantic looking at the moon from the warm water swimming pool. The bedroom was big and the bed was very comfortable. A treat for us. Jeff the cook is the best in Sri Lanka. If you can not stay in the hotel then go just for lunch and a tour if the tea plantation. Nalin the owner is super friendly and lots of fun. He loves his plantation. As you walk around the workers wave and chat. You can you join in picking if you want. Sad to leave our great room and Jeff's food.

Review Body: This is a wonderful true experience of Sri Lanka. The hotel is on top of a hill surrounded by beautiful woods of all shades of green you can imagine. The hotel sits in a plantation of pepper and tea. The birds songs are amazing as a wake up call. The air is so fresh it will adds years to your life. The food is amazing and they cater for fussy vegetarians like me and demanding meat eaters like my husband. A family run hotel which is lovely as the people there are so kind and truly genuine. Make sure you do not miss out on this gem. Enjoy the real experience of Sri Lankan and a taste of plantation life. Will return again next year. Patricia and Manitha from England.

Review Body: Sited out of town a few miles from Kandy, this is the plantation house of the Old Frankland Estate, beautifully positioned amid a working tea & peppercorn plantation. We were warmly greeted and made to feel at home. Our hardworking multitalented host cooked us up a delicious meal, and also excelled at breakfast. All the staff bent over backwards to be kind, cheerful and helpful, even taking us to our train when we left. The location is romantic and spectacular. The infinity pool was a delight, as was our comfortable bed. The Old Frankland aspires to be boutique and luxury, it is still developing and has the potential to be both.

Review Body: The Old Frankland Boutique Hotel is a very nice place on a quiet location one hour from Kandy. Estate owner Nalin and Chamara are extremely friendly and helpful to do everything in their possibilities to provide you a wonderful stay. It's a unique location with a breathtaking view on the surroundings. The breakfast and diner were really tasteful. Also the tea plantation tour provided by Nalin is highly recommended. The pool is great and provides a nice view on the surroundings. We had a really nice experience in Old Frankland and won't hesitate to come back one day!

Review Body: We had an awesome Time at Old Frankland. All the staff, and especially Chamara and Dananjaya were thoughtful and really Nice. They even organized a party for us ! (We were alone that night). The food is good and generous. The hotel is a bit far from Kandy but the place is worth it. It is in the middle of a tea plantation with an amazing view. Waking up there, with the swimming pool is a blast ! For sure, we recommend it.

Review Body: Owner was great! The best service ever! Everything we wanted for dinner. Fresh coconuts from tree picked in front of us for breakfast. Road to hotel was awesome. As our car was too low, they picked us up with jeep and we went to to sit in the trunk, amazing experience! And infinity pool at the hotel.... Omg! The view was great and staff amazing! Highly recommend.

Review Body: Stayed here for 2 nights and had some amazing traditional Sri Lankan food and were able to relax by the pool the whole day while admiring the stunning view of the tea plantation and the valley! It’s a quite and tranquil place to stay with comfy beds and good food! It’s only about an hour away from Kandy and is overall a lovely hotel :)

Review Body: This place is incredible, the view is out of this world and it is a great break from reality. The food we were given was excellent with all diets catered for. You can explore the tea grounds and walk around the 75 acre estate. We stayed for 2 nights and then added an extra one on as we didn't want to leave! Thank you for a great stay!

Review Body: The location is a bit remote but beautiful - surrounded by green hills with a view on the mountains, this place is stunning. The indoor pool was not in use af the moment but the outdoor pool was really great. The staff especially was really welcoming and helpful, and we had a great time staying here.
