Away from the temples, Yogyakarta's heart beats off the usual path. In a village surrounded by rice fields, you will be be able to experience the art of Javanese Batik in its most authentic form. In this beautiful local artist collective, you will be able to see the art work created by some of the best artists in the country as well as create your own piece. No fancy brushstrokes required! These guys – think batik rockstars, minus the egos – will guide you from blank canvas to vibrant silk symphony. This isn't just a class, it's a cultural fiesta under a banyan tree, where laughter swirls with the earthy scent of dye. You'll leave with more than a batik, you'll leave with the soul of Yogyakarta woven into your own art. About Your Host Leksa Ganesha is a local artist collective situated in the charming Tembi area of the Bantul region, just outside Yogyakarta.
