This has got to be one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had, ever! Wayan, his team and his family moved me with their hospitality and unwavering commitment to the ethical conservation of Bali’s fireflies. I especially enjoyed learning about the different types of fireflies and foraging for ingredients for dinner. It was truly a magical experience that I’ll remember for life.
(Shoutout to sweet Novi and cute Tegal the cat ❤️)

One of our favourite experiences throughout our 3 week trip in Indonesia! We were welcomed with such kindness and warmth by our incredible guide, Wayan's family, and Wayan. The home cooked meal was intimate and delicious. The lab tour and walk around the land were fascinating, so informative, and inspiring. We asked so many questions and learned so much! And then being able see the fireflies at night in all their glory, both in the lab and in the rice fields, was so beautiful and moving. We had never seen fireflies in real life before and it was more magical than we could've imagined. We're so thankful to the team at Taman Dukuh Farm for their conservation work and for sharing this experience with us!

Me and my boyfriend visited Wayan and his family and had such an amazing time! We got to learn a lot about the firefly project and take part of the passion that goes in to the project from everyone involved. We learned about the area and history and it was nice to get a local experience outside the touristy areas. We got to meet Wayans lovely family and on top of that had delicious homemade food - best food we had in Bali! Thank you so much for this great experience!

One of the most amazing moments during our trip to Bali! Wayan, Novi, and his family did an incredible job of showcasing the beauty of fireflies, explaining the importance of preserving them and showing us the stunning natural beauty of Bali.
We had a great time exploring the farm, learning about the lives of the fireflies, and even cooking with Wayan's family.
I highly recommend taking the time to visit this place - it's an experience you won't forget.
I have so much respect and appreciation for the hard work that went into this project. Thank you, Wayan and team, for creating something so unique and special. <3

Wayan Wardika and his family welcomed us more warmly than anyone else on our trip to Asia.
We were incredibly touched by his lovely family and his farm.
The story behind his mission to run an organic farm where the fireflies can live undisturbed to save them from extinction and to run a laboratory and research on the fireflies inspired us so much.
But that was just one of the wonderful experiences we had there.
After a welcome with coffee and sweets, we toured his farm and got to sample some locally grown food.
Afterwards, his super motivated employee welcomed us and told us all about the fireflies and their current state of research as well as their personal journey and mission.
After the BEST meal I ever had in Bali (cooked by the family) we went to watch the glowworms (in the dark).
We were so happy to have seen some and let the truly magical place take effect.
Wayan Wardika organized a birthday cake for my friend Isabelle.
We would like to thank Wayan Wardika and his family and staff for this wonderful evening and wish him and his project all the best!!!

We were greeted with a cup of tea and some delicious kusurabi (small pancakes with coconut)! Then had a tour of the lab and learnt more about fireflies life cycle and threats to them. We then had a tour of the organic farm and picked some food for dinner while exploring the rest of the village. The dinner was incredible and delicious and completely vegan. Had such a wonderful evening and the best evening I had in Ubud.

We booked @thefireflyslife 3 days prior. The service reply by Pak Wayan (owner) was prompt, inclusive of video directions to the location at Tegal Dukuh. We arrived at 4pm and were warmly welcomed by Ibu Tanti. It was an immersive guided experience. We experience cooking the traditional rice cake and involved in food preparation and cooking a traditional Balinese dinner , which is also included in the package.
The introduction to the fireflies started with a trip to their conservation lab, from eggs, larvae, to hatching process. At 8pm (after dark) we were guided to the rice fields to see the fireflies in the wild. It was truly a different experience that Bali can offer. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality Pak Wayan! Mantap!

This was hands down the best evening we’ve had in Bali. We learnt so much about the fireflies and the efforts to protect and conserve them as well as the difficulties they have. After being shown round the lab and given a go playing around with the microscope we helped prepare the most amazing Indonesian feast. After eating we went into the rice field to watch the fireflies which was everything we hoped it could be, magical! Everyone there was so lovely and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and ensure we had a great time, we would recommend this experience to anyone visiting bali and hope that we can return back one day.
