Why go
- Mount Agung is the tallest and most sacred mountain in Bali, and also the toughest hike on the island. It's great if you're looking for a challenging hike, and to understand the significance of Mount Agung in Balinese culture.
- Unlike Mount Batur, Mount Agung is also pretty untouristed so you can enjoy the summit without the crowds!

What to do or see here
There are 2 routes: a shorter hike to the crater rim (4 hours each way), or the summit hike (5-6 hours each way). Both offer incredible views of rice fields, temples, & villages.

Best Time to Go
Climb during the dry season (May-Nov) for the safest, most enjoyable experience. Guides may not take hikers up during the rainy season (Dec-March) due to safety concerns.

Who is it for?
Mount Agung is ideal for experienced hikers seeking a serious challenge. If you want a less crowded climb than Batur, but tougher than Rinjani, with stunning views, this is for you!

Top Tips
To respect the sacred mountain, take a guide. Some say it's tougher than Rinjani - be prepared for rocky terrain, bring hiking sticks & headtorch. Pack warm layers for the summit.
