One of the most memorable activities and a wonderful end to the day. We learned so much about fireflies, the importance of it to the ecosystem, and why they are disappearing in this day and age. The hosts are so knowledgeable and friendly and we really felt so at ease and comfortable. While there wasn't a whole field of fireflies (please manage your expectations - they are doing their best to bring up its population) , it was still such a great experience to see the fireflies twinkle in the night, paired with the stars in the sky. The food was also so delicious and meticulously prepared and I enjoyed every bite.
I would really recommend this activity if you are willing to travel out (please get a private driver as this is quite a far trip from Ubud Central). The session is very intimate and not suitable if you are travelling with people who are scared of the dark, icky with bugs, and noisy yappers.

Our family had the incredible opportunity to delve into the wonders of Bali's natural and cultural heritage. Witnessing the mesmerizing glow of fireflies in their natural habitat was not only a visual delight but also an educational experience for our family, highlighting the rarity and beauty of these luminous insects.
Equally enjoyable was our hands-on participation in preparing and savoring traditional Indonesian dishes and also watching the intricate process of making coconut milk and oil which provided us with a deeper appreciation for Balinese culinary traditions.
Wayan and his team, many of whom are his family members, extended warm hospitality that made us feel truly welcome. Their prompt communication prior to our visit ensured a seamless experience.
Given the location's setting amidst a lush forest, we recommend wearing long sleeves and pants and applying mosquito repellent.
For those seeking an authentic and special experience in Bali, this adventure comes highly recommended.

Visiting this firefly farm was an unforgettable experience! Not only did we get to witness the breathtaking beauty of fireflies lighting up the night, but we also learned so much about their important conservation work. It’s inspiring to see a place so dedicated to protecting these magical creatures and their habitat.
The hospitality was outstanding—everyone we met was warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had a great time, answering all our questions and sharing fascinating insights about fireflies. Their passion for conservation truly shines through!

Everything was unique about the visit to this special, authentic place, and the warmth and friendliness of the hosts. We got a tour of the camp and learned from the team of scientists about the life cycle of the fireflies. A short walk through the jungle was followed by dinner preparations and a delicious meal. After dark we got to experience the magic of the fireflies. Seeing them twinkle around the field while the stars were twinkling in the sky was nothing short of magical. I particularly enjoyed the conversation with Wayan, a visionary on ecotourism and conservation. Warmly recommend this unique tour!

If you’re looking for an activity for the evening/night after a flight, look no further. You will be treated to a delectable full course dinner (appetizer, black coffee/tea/coconut water, mains, dessert) cooked on the spot by Wayan’s sister. We did not have time for lunch and this meal really left us full and contented. We slept well after. The spinach chips may look like ordinary fried food, but it’s my first time eating such fresh fried spinach paired with self made tomato sauce, loved it! Pictures don’t do it justice, you will have to taste it!
Seeing the fireflies fly and blink were left to be experienced near the end before dessert as night falls. How many fireflies you get to see flying around will depend on your luck, don’t expect too much. Wayan and his family/colleagues shared a lot of their passion and love for Mother Nature. Thank you all for what you do!
To others: Please cater in about 2+hrs from landing time for any flight delays, to clear customs and to find your driver pick-up point. Also, do cater in additional time for traffic as they are mostly single lanes with high traffic. We were late but Wayan and his family/colleagues kindly waited for us. However, if they had more guests for that day, it might be disruptive for them.
Thank you Wayan, his son & sister & the lab staff for hosting us, we wish all of you the very best!

A very special and unique experience to learn about these sensitive little creatures. Loved foraging for herbs and having the most delicious meal prepared by Wayan and his family.

It is not the conventional commercialised tourist experience, Wayan and the family is sincere, and the most beautiful part is they truly believe in what they doing, it’s beautiful! My advice (speaking from experience) for anyone who plan this trip, MUST add on transport arrangements because this beautiful location is quite far out, e-hailing doesn't work, unless you already have your own private driver.

Such a great experience. Not only did we learn a ton about fireflies, their meaning to the Balinese culture, their natural habitat and the ongoing conservation efforts, we also got to eat a delicious traditional dinner and hear about the history of the project.
Wayan and his family were such great hosts. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is even just a little interested in Balinese culture, food or fireflies.
Thank you so much for having us!
