If you're looking for a day trip around Labuan Bajo, Rangko Cave is a cool cave spot that you can swim in, and even getting there is a fun adventure! You have to take a 1hr car ride from LBJ to the harbour, and take a 20 min boat ride to where Rangko cave is.&nbsp;

What to do or see here

<ul><li>Go in March to May because it’s low season. The cave is small so avoiding the peak season in June to Sep is good.</li><li>For the best photos, try to time your visit to get there between 2 to 3pm, because that’s when the sunlight comes in and lights up the cave and even shines on the water so it looks really blue.</li></ul>

Top Tips

We had a great experience on our SeekSophie tour with Pak Darso as our guide. Communication over WhatsApp in the lead-up to the tour was easy, with prompt replies and clear instructions provided throughout.

Pickup was timely and the day’s itinerary went exactly as planned. We had a smooth and comfortable ride to Rangko Village, where we took a fisherman’s boat to Rangko Cave and enjoyed a fun swim in the cave. After that, we visited Batu Cermin before heading to a nearby local restaurant for lunch (at our own request and expense).

We were dropped back at the hotel with enough time to rest and shower before being picked up again for the sunset tour at Sylvia Hill. Although the views weren’t the best due to cloudy weather, Pak Darso was a great conversationalist and made the experience enjoyable nonetheless.

Overall, a pleasant and well-organised tour — would recommend!

Labuan Bajo Half Day Snorkelling Trip | Rangko Cave & Boleng Beach

Our trip in December was less crowded which is a bonus but it’s the start of a raining season in LBJ. We added snorkeling at Boleng Beach, which we were supposed to do after swimming at Rangko cave since we took the afternoon session. This is so that we get the afternoon sun shining thru the cave. The tour operator recommended to switch the schedule on that day so that we don’t get caught in the rain. Great recommendation and we still get the lights from the sun by the time we were at the cave after we had fun snorkeling. By around 5pm-ish we decided to just go back to the hotel instead of a short hike up Amelia Hill as it started raining. 

Overall we had a great time and the experience is priceless. Service from the pickup, during the excursion and drop off were great.

Rangko Cave and Sylvia Hill were stunning ! We went during slow season so it was not crowded at all. There were 6 people in the tour group including us, the tour was organized and went smoothly. Due to weather condition we did not get to do snorkeling, but overall we had a great time. Highly recommended.

This was a great trip, perfect for a spare afternoon in Labuan Bajo. The cave was great, the snorkelling was superb and Amelia Hill for the sunset was fantastic!

They were helpful to me at every turn. I am 62 and needed more help down stairs and hills, which they gave to me. My snorkel did not work well, and they swam out to me to replace it. We saw a spectacular sunset while driving and they stopped and pulled over for us to get out of the car and enjoy it. They were highly professional and punctual without being too early or late. The reef was amazing with blue starfish and corals almost as colorful as Pink Beach. I highly recommend this tour.

I was the only one who booked and they didn’t cancel the tour! A bit weird to be alone on a tour, but lovely guides and captain. Snorkeling site had quite vibrant coral and the cave was neat. My driver dropped me off at the beach afterwards instead of back to my hotel which was kind!
