We’ve actually been to Komodo more than 20 times ourselves, testing different boats and experiences, because we know how important it is to get it right for a trip like this. It’s one of those once-in-a-lifetime places, and there can be some dodgy operators there, so we spend a lot of time finding the really great ones for our guests.

The host you went with is also a really special one. When they’re not running trips, they organise beach clean-ups around Komodo and even pay their crew to collect trash. So your trip didn’t just take you somewhere beautiful - it also supported people who are taking great care of Komodo National Park.

Sophia, Fern, Jess and the team spent months planning the trip. Sophia personally tested the trip multiple times to iron out every small detail - even things like getting pillows for the long bike rides so guests would be more comfortable. Their intention was for every guest to feel seen and cared for throughout the journey. So it means a lot to hear that you felt the heart behind it.

And just by being part of the trip you made a huge difference too. The female riders we work with often struggle to find work because many companies still prefer hiring men, so this trip helps create meaningful jobs for them and their families. And making something as simple as bánh mì for the kids (something we take for granted) is really special there, as bread and eggs aren’t something they get often.

We started Seek Sophie because we’ve had trips that changed us, and we wanted to create experiences that could do the same for others. It makes me really happy to hear that this trip meant something to you too.
