This 3D2N Kinabatangan wildlife experience is perfect for wildlife lovers who want to stay in a heartfelt, community-run lodge. This Orang Sungai-run lodge is basic but cozy, with the friendliest local guides. Seriously, the staff here are all from the surrounding villages and they'll treat you like family. Bonus: It's great value too!You'll spend your days cruising the wildlife-packed Kinabatangan River, searching for pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, exotic birds, and maybe even a sneaky crocodile or two!What to expect:Wildlife spotting galore: Four river safaris and a jungle walk maximize your animal encounters.Cozy up or stay social: Choose a dorm for meeting fellow travelers or a private room for extra peace.Local guides with the inside scoop: Learn about the rainforest from people who call it home.Just the right pace: Stay busy with activities, but never feel rushed or overwhelmed.Optional add-ons: If you are looking to maximise your wildlife experience, you can consider the following optional add-ons:Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center & Sunbear Sanctuary: If you have at least 2 persons in your group the price is MYR 490. The price includes a pick up from Sandakan town (8:30AM) or airport (flexible, but before 8:30AM), entrance to the Orangutan Rehabilitation Center and Sunbear Sanctuary, buffet lunch and guide. Please note, in order to do this experience, you need to be in Sandakan by 8:30AM at the latest on day 1 of your trip! You will leave from Sepilok to Sukau Greenview B&B with the rest of the participants at around 1:30PM.Firefly Cruise: this cruise will take you to a near by village about 1.5 hours away from Sukau where you will get to see a mesmerising amount of fireflies. This takes place on day 2 of your trip, and you would be forgoing the afternoon cruise and night walk. Price starts at MYR 300/pax with a 2pax minimum. Price includes the boat trip with guide and dinner at a local homestay in the neighboring village.Gomantong Cave Visit: these cave present an opportunity to see a massive exodus of bats, however due to local regulation, the caves close at 5:30pm, which often times is too early for the bats to exit, thus bat sightings are not guaranteed; Price starts at MYR 250/pax. Price includes vehicle to take you to the entrance of the cave and guide.Elephant Cruise: this cruise is for wildlife enthusiasts that would like to maximise elephant sightings or perhaps didn't have a chance to see them on a regular cruise. Elephant sightings are not guaranteed and the cruise only takes place if there are sightings reported in near by villages. This cruise takes places on day 2 of the trip and you would be forgoing the regular afternoon cruise and the night walk. You may also be arriving late for dinner! Price starts at MYR 250/pax and can only be booked on site. Price includes boat trip and guide.Private Transport: If you require a private transfer due to late arrival or early departure, a private care can be arranged at the price of MYR 437 for up to 4 passengers.Important Tips:You must be in Sandakan by 12:30PM on the first day and your flight cannot be earlier than 1PM on the last day in order to take part in the group pick-up; otherwise you will require a private pick up/drop-off.Pick up at the airport is from the Starbucks. Once you arrive, you can make yourself comfortable there and the driver will come around with a whiteboard with your name on it to collect you.For your comfort make sure to bring: bug spray, light raincoat or poncho, boots for kids, as the host does not have child sized boots for the jungle trek.
