Head off the beaten path and support a social enterprise.
Looking for a truly immersive Sapa experience? This private 2-day trek takes you off the beaten path through some of the region’s most remote villages, where you’ll meet the Red Dao and Black Hmong people. Unlike other treks that stick to well-trodden routes, this one ventures deeper into the highlands, offering a more authentic glimpse of local life and stunning panoramic views. Along the way, you’ll share meals with local families, learn about their traditions, and spend a night in a cosy homestay with a Red Dao family. As a bonus you will be contributing to a social enterprise which supports a lot of initiatives in Sapa - including education for kids in nearby villages! What to ExpectHike through less-visited Red Dao and Black Hmong villages, far from the usual tourist crowdsEnjoy stunning views from Phin Ho village and have lunch with a local familySee a working salmon farm in Lu Khau village and stay overnight in a Red Dao homestayExperience cooking local dishes with your hosts and learning about their cultureTrek through Gia Thau and Kim Ngan villages, with spectacular rice terrace viewsHave a peaceful picnic lunch with a local family in Kim Ngan villageVisit a Blue Hmong house to learn about their traditions before heading back to SapaFree pick up and drop off from Sapa TownProceeds to support social enterprise providing education to local kidsGood to KnowThis trek is rated medium to hard difficulty and covers 25km in total over two days; it is best suited for those with some trekking experience or good fitness levelsAccommodation is a local homestay—it’s simple but cosy, with shared bathroom facilitiesAll meals are included, but drinks and personal expenses are notBring comfortable hiking shoes, a rain jacket (weather can be unpredictable), and cash for personal expensesFacilitiesDouble Room with Shared BathroomMosquito Net

Meet your host
Shu Tan, a single mother from the Black Hmong tribe, saw the challenges local youth faced—many couldn’t finish school or find stable jobs. She wanted to change that. So, she started a social enterprise, Vietnam’s first Hmong-owned homestay and trekking company, using tourism to give back. With support from volunteers, she launched the first Hmong-owned homestay, a socially conscious trekking service, and a boarding facility to help ethnic minority youth access education. The company reinvests profits into scholarships, job opportunities, and training for locals, tackling systemic issues like illiteracy and economic instability. Every trek with them helps fund education, every homestay supports a local family.
