Review Body: The experience was interesting and unique. It was a great couple activity with my other half. However, there were few things that i feel can be improved: 1. As a first timer, i felt that the whole concept wasn’t explained properly. We were asked to draw 3 holes on the foundation/ base, but it wasn’t explained what are those. Likewise along the way there wasn’t clarity on the steps or what were they for. 2. Guidance - expanding onto point 1, there wasn’t proper guidance provided. We were just asked to unleash our creativity. But as a first timer doing plant and wood work, we were rather lost throughout. The PIC seemed new and couldn’t really value add through the workshop. Instead, it became like a DIY session rather than workshop. At the end, we were struggling a little on the details, but instead of offering help, we were told that there was 15 mins left. Hence, we only could rush through to get it done with. 3. Pictures provided plus samples provided were inaccurate. The pictures and samples showed well trimmed plants. But the plants we could choose from didn’t share the same effect. When we asked if we could trip them to make space for the treehouse, we were asked to do it at home. Again, no guidance provided on what we could do to beautify our piece. 4. In the Q&A, it was answered that we could do a piece like picture 8 (which was why the put it in the activity picture, no?). However, the PIC told us that it was for another activity instead. 5. Items we could use was not explained and provided in advance. It was only when we asked if we could do stuff shown in the sample, then it was taken out. Likewise for tools, we were not briefed how we could better cut the wood or sand it down. Only when we struggled, then we were provided the proper tools. Overall, I would not pay at this price again for this DIY experience. However, should level of service improve, it could have been a fun activity for couples or friends.

Review Body: This was such a unique experience! Not only was the rooftop very special and chilled, the experience was also incredibly insightful and fun! The rooftop venue was glorious. It felt like the speakeasies in London, hidden from the world and an incredibly chilled oasis. While we were up there we felt like we were transported to an entirely different country. We're already planning our next trip back! At first we thought the experience was pretty random as it seemed to include lots of disconnected parts: organic farming, beekeeping and honey tasting/cocktails! But it turns out that it was intended to show us how incredibly interconnected our earth's ecosystem is. The quality of the soil influences the plants -> plants in turn affect the bees & the honey they produce -> and finally that affects the food & drinks that we consume! Clarence was super knowledgeable and interesting, and was able to answer all the questions we asked. We were there with a group of friends - it's perfect for couples or a small group who want to see a cool place and learn something new! There was also a family doing the experience with us and they seemed to be having lots of fun too! Fun fact: The bees here are rescued. When bees are discovered in housing estates or schools, they'll call Clarence who will come and rescue them, and house them in the apiary. We thought that made the experience extra, extra special!

Review Body: Our hosts Edmil and Samuel were great! Edmil explained the food science behind the pasta making process and ensured that each one of us got to be involved in each step of the process. The timing was just right, we were kept busy all the way, no dull moments in between except to take sips of water. We got a chance to visit the rooftop garden to cut some fresh herbs. They didn't scrimp on the ingredients, yet the pasta sauce recipes were easy enough to recreate on our own. We recommend wearing outfits meant for warm weather like short sleeves and thinner fabrics. It is not indoors nor air conditioned, more like an enclosed courtyard with big umbrellas and super fans which cooled the place enough given the hot sun, and the rooftop garden where we spent about 10 minutes is very exposed to the sun. Also note to wear shoes that won't be soaked. The carpet grass was waterlogged probably from the heavy rain the day before; I had to walk in wet pumps the whole day! If you have any food allergies, do let them know beforehand when they reach out to you for confirmation. Only the location was out of the way for non-easties, but you get to visit one of the many cafes in the area after. In all, a fun experience, great for couples and small groups!

Review Body: I booked the Private Urban Farm Experience (with Bee Encounter) at The Sundowner on a weekday and was warmly welcomed by the team from the moment we arrived. The entire session was thoughtfully curated and very well paced, making it both engaging and easy to follow even for complete beginners. Gary was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, and it really showed throughout the experience. He was generous with sharing his expertise and patiently answered all our questions about composting, beekeeping, honey production, and growing herbs. It was not only hands-on but also very educational — we walked away learning so much about urban farming and the ecosystem behind it. We also really appreciated that the team helped capture photos and videos for us along the way, which made the experience even more memorable. Despite the sweltering weather, everything was set up very comfortably — there was shelter to keep us out of the hot sun and air-conditioned rooms where we could cool off and relax. Overall, it was a unique, enriching, and highly informative experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone curious about urban farming, sustainability, or simply looking for a meaningful and hands-on activity in Singapore.

Review Body: Wonderful experience! Be instantly transported away from the hustle and bustle of city life and unplug front hw world. Take up the phone bucket challenge a d leave the world behind as you luxuriate in nature. The house is simply beautiful and inspite of being nestled in nature, surprisingly and relatively free of pests, other than the crawlies kept for educational purposes. Cost is slightly higher than other chalets, but the House of Melissa Evelin makes up for it with free range eggs, coffee, brioche loafs and other amenities you would usually associate with a hotel stay. Signed up for the chocolate and ice cream workshops and the feed a duck/chicken sessions. You do have to pay for it, but definitely worth the extra cash. My family had a great breakfast of eggs and brioche toasts while enjoying the sea breeze. The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. They are clearly passionate about what they do and their love for the project is inspiring. A stay at the House of Melissa Evelin is a. Experience not to be missed!

Review Body: To borrow the catchphrase from the Singapore Flyer, it’s a moving experience at every turn! Every turn round the corner of the inside and outside of this amazing Chalet Hotel is a dynamic, moving, stimulating sensory experience! Inside, it’s a historical gem, with so many fascinating wall photos of Singapore’s rich heritage. Eye opening to see all the fascinating natural history exhibits like moulted skins of scorpions! Just love the old world furniture and artifacts too! So rustic woken up by the predawn rooster calls of the free roaming chickens and refreshing learning about rescued bees housed in the many hives dotting the garden. Fascinating array of herbs like rosemary and basil available for the picking too. And the most relaxing experience is feasting the eyes on the sea view in front and enjoying the salubrious sea breeze as they whistle through the hair. This place warrants a repeat visit and stay definitely.

Review Body: Beautiful setting, really enjoyed being there. This is a one of a kind spot in Singapore, and it feels like bringing your team for an offsite retreat abroad. It's immediately relaxing being by the seaside, and being surrounded by the farm animals feels like being taken back in time to a gorgeous kampong. The space is large, so the team can lounge in the outdoor area comfortably, or head indoors as well. There's lots of room for people to spread out and have separate discussions if need be. The experiences here also very fun and one-of-a-kind. Loved visiting the honeybees and learning about them. Singapore actually has a bee crisis (well, the whole world does), and the host rescues bees and homes them here. They're well-behaved bees don't worry! And it was really nice getting an insight into something so important to our ecosystem. Would highly recommend for a team day out/retreat!!

Candice and her husband have clearly poured their hearts into creating something special, their passion and expertise shine through, particularly when they share insights about the bees and plants thriving on their rooftop garden. The pizza-making experience was wonderful. The dough was super tasty, and the wood-fired cooking elevated the pizzas to another level. The smoky, authentic flavors that only come from a proper cherry wood fire made them pop, plus they cook in about 2 minutes! This isn't just dining, it's an experience that connects you with the craft, the ingredients, and the genuine enthusiasm of the hosts. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something different in Singapore's food scene.

Review Body: We had a fantastic kayaking tour with Brenda, her friend and another lovely couple to and around Pulau Ubin! Exploring mangroves is a unique and enriching experience, especially when accompanied by someone knowledgeable about the wildlife. Brenda's expertise added a lot to the journey, making it not only enjoyable but also educational. Mangroves are critical ecosystems that support a diverse range of plant and animal species, and having someone like Brenda to share insights about the wildlife deepens your appreciation for the natural environment. Brenda added an extra special touch to your kayaking tour through cooking a delicious meal in her kayak (!) which was quite an impressive feat! The combination of enjoying the beauty of the mangroves, learning about wildlife, and then having a tasty meal prepared right in the kayak made the experience truly unforgettable.

Review Body: I came here with four friends for the Sunday workshop and it was fantastic from start to finish. We began with a short tour around the rooftop garden which felt like a little piece of heaven, super cozy and homey vibes, and the weather was perfect. The pizza we made was great, and there was no shortage of food and drinks with beer, coke and prosecco keeping the group happy. Our main facilitator Gary was knowledgeable, full of good energy, and made the whole experience fun and engaging. Shanniz and Nandini were very helpful and took many great photos for us. This was also a birthday celebration and the team helped store our cake, brought it out at the perfect moment, and even played a birthday song for the surprise cake appearance. If you are thinking about booking this experience for a little escape, go ahead, you will not regret it!!!

From kneading the dough, tossing it to topping our creations with endless combinations of cheese and fresh ingredients, everyone got hands-on and creative — and the results were absolutely delicious! The cozy rooftop setting made the evening extra special — complete with laughter, and teamwork.🍴🌿 A big thank-you to The Sundowner team for guiding us through every step with warmth and enthusiasm. Review Body: Sam and Benita were incredibly warm and welcoming! They took the time to get to know people, they were great with the kids in the class, they kept everyone involved and in high spirits. Their energy was infectious and made the class fun from the get go! The pizzas were fun to make, the process was a fun challenge that all of us, of all ages, had a blast! And eating it was great too! The pace of the class isn’t too fast to keep up, it’s not too slow that it feels like a drag, it’s the perfect amount to comfortably go through the entire experience and enjoy every minute of it. Can’t thank the 2 of them enough for making this experience special. My fiancé was nervous going in as she’s a bit introverted but she warmed up (pun very much intended) quickly and got into the mood, laughing and joking with our amazing teachers!

Review Body: At the Sundowner you can learn how to farm your own herbs, spices and fruits from your balcony in Singapore! For someone like me who is terrible at keeping plants alive, the session was super informative and it inspired me to start farming my own basil (it's still alive!) Clarence was a super chill and cool host who knew pretty much EVERYTHING about organic farming and wild bees. I loved the honey tasting session where we learnt different ways to describe honey other that sweet - who knew it could be woody, floral, or fruity? The session ended with a cocktail customizing session, where you can pluck some herbs around the organic garden and use them to enhance the flavour of your drink. Overall an amazing experience and would highly recommend to couples who are looking to try something new for a date!

Review Body: What an absolutely wonderful experience! My daughter and I attended a small-group, hands-on wood-fired pizza making workshop and loved every minute of it. The session felt intimate, private and incredibly fun from start to finish. One of the highlights was getting to forage for our own fresh herbs straight from the garden before making the pizzas. We learned how to toss the dough, prepare everything from scratch using fresh produce, and cook the pizzas in a traditional wood-fired oven. The entire experience was relaxed, interactive and perfect for spending quality time together. After cooking, we sat down to enjoy our creations with drinks included — and the pizzas turned out deliciously awesome! Highly recommend this for anyone looking for a unique, memorable and hands-on culinary experience.

Review Body: I've always wanted to visit The Sundowner and this beer-making workshop was the perfect excuse to drop by. I dragged my boyfriend along and we got to learn some history and science behind brewing. We thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on experience--boiling, hopping, beer tapping, etc. We also got to channel our beer connoisseur persona during the guided beer tasting. At the end of the workshop, each of us got to bring home a bottle of the beer we made. Fingers crossed that it ferments well! Can't wait to try it in a few weeks 🍻 ps. The Sundowner was everything I imagined it to be and more. It's honestly like visiting a cool uncle's house -- chess-lined walls, sand-filled room, mini rooftop farm, ant collection, bees, a cat, etc. I will be back again for their other workshops!

Review Body: The pizza-making experience with Seek Sophie was just as enjoyable and memorable. The instructors were again very interactive and knowledgeable, guiding us clearly through each step of the process. What stood out most was how engaging the session was—everything was easy to follow, and the instructors shared plenty of interesting “fun facts” along the way. A highlight for me was getting to taste different cheeses before choosing which ones to use on our pizzas. It added a really thoughtful and fun touch to the experience. By the end, not only did we make our own pizzas, but we also learned a lot in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. Definitely a great activity for anyone who enjoys food and hands-on experiences!
