Exciting wildlife adventure in Borneo's rainforest with heartfelt hosts
This wildlife safari on the Kinabatangan River is all about getting up close and personal with Malaysia's amazing creatures. With boat trips galore and a jungle walk with a local expert, you have tons of chances to spot proboscis monkeys, colorful birds, and maybe even orangutans and pygmy elephants - consider yourself super luck if you get to see them all!The lodge accommodations might be basic, but the staff are from the village and totally passionate about wildlife – it's the perfect mix of adventure and getting to know the locals. What to expect:Wildlife spotting galore: Four river safaris and a jungle walk maximize your animal encounters.Cozy up or stay social: Choose a dorm for meeting fellow travelers or a private room for extra peace.Local guides with the inside scoop: Learn about the rainforest from people who call it home.Just the right pace: Stay busy with activities, but never feel rushed or overwhelmed.Optional add-ons: If you are looking to maximise your wildlife experience, you can consider the following optional add-ons:Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center & Sunbear Sanctuary: If you have at least 2 persons in your group the price is MYR 490. The price includes a pick up from Sandakan town (8:30AM) or airport (flexible, but before 8:30AM), entrance to the Orangutan Rehabilitation Center and Sunbear Sanctuary, buffet lunch and guide. Please note, in order to do this experience, you need to be in Sandakan by 8:30AM at the latest on day 1 of your trip! You will leave from Sepilok to Sukau Greenview B&B with the rest of the participants at around 1:30PM.Firefly Cruise: this cruise will take you to a near by village about 1.5 hours away from Sukau where you will get to see a mesmerising amount of fireflies. This takes place on day 2 of your trip, and you would be forgoing the afternoon cruise and night walk. Price starts at MYR 300/pax with a 2pax minimum. Price includes the boat trip with guide and dinner at a local homestay in the neighboring village.Gomantong Cave Visit: these cave present an opportunity to see a massive exodus of bats, however due to local regulation, the caves close at 5:30pm, which often times is too early for the bats to exit, thus bat sightings are not guaranteed; Price starts at MYR 250/pax. Price includes vehicle to take you to the entrance of the cave and guide.Elephant Cruise: this cruise is for wildlife enthusiasts that would like to maximise elephant sightings or perhaps didn't have a chance to see them on a regular cruise. Elephant sightings are not guaranteed and the cruise only takes place if there are sightings reported in near by villages. This cruise takes places on day 2 of the trip and you would be forgoing the regular afternoon cruise and the night walk. You may also be arriving late for dinner! Price starts at MYR 250/pax and can only be booked on site. Price includes boat trip and guide.Private Transport: If you require a private transfer due to late arrival or early departure, a private care can be arranged at the price of MYR 437 for up to 4 passengers.Important Tips:You must be in Sandakan by 12:30PM on the first day and your flight cannot be earlier than 1PM on the last day in order to take part in the group pick-up; otherwise you will require a private pick up/drop-off.Pick up at the airport is from the Starbucks. Once you arrive, you can make yourself comfortable there and the driver will come around with a whiteboard with your name on it to collect you.For your comfort make sure to bring: bug spray, light raincoat or poncho, boots for kids, as the host does not have child sized boots for the jungle trek. Binoculars are available for rent, please request beforehand. The host does not sell alcohol, but if you would like to bring wine or beer, the host will be happy to store them in the communal fridge! For any on-site purchases, you can use a credit card, however there is a 2.5% credit card fee, so if you would like to avoid that, please do prepare cash as there is no ATM anywhere close.Your drop-off location will be confirmed and arranged upon your arrival when you complete a form at reception.Embrace the simplicity - this is all about getting close to nature, not luxury amenities.

Hello, is it possible to give us a lift somewhere to Sukau where the bus from Sandakan to Semporna goes?
Norbert, 23 Sep 2024
Hi Norbert,
Yes, that’s possible if it is a one-way trip. When you make your booking, please add a note to inform our host about your request, and they will reach out to you regarding the details. :)
I am looking to book an add-on Drop off in Lahad Datu. Could you tell me how long the trip takes and what time can we expect to arrive to Lahad Datu. Is it possible to arrive there around 9:30?

How Many people is on one boat? I am looking to book your 3D2N Cruise+trekking option areoun 30th of October. When you sto p for watching the nature do you turn off the engine? This mattert to me for having best experimnece and opportunity to take not blurry photos.
Dagmara, 12 Sep 2024
Hi Dagmara,
The number of people on each boat can vary depending on the number of joiners on the day of your booking. Our host will ensure that the boat capacity is managed according to the type of boat used.
Yes, we do turn off the engine to respect nature during observations, which helps provide the best experience and a great opportunity for clear photos.
If you have any other questions or need further details, feel free to ask!
Hello, I'm interested in the 3D2N river cruise in the first weekend of October. Is the Firefly/Bat Exodus experience instead of the night cruise? Or do I have to stay an additional night for either of this experience?
