Engaging with Balinese Village life and Snakefruit Farmers
Nestled in the lush hills of East Bali, Sibetan Village is a peaceful farming community where 80% of the land is covered with salacca (snakefruit) trees. The village is not only the largest producer of snakefruit in Bali, but also one of the few places where traditional Balinese farming and cultural practices remain deeply preserved.Guided by local villagers who are also often a farmer from the village, you’ll explore Sibetan’s organic salacca farms, where the landscape is lined with rows of lush snakefruit trees. As you walk through the plantation, your guide will share insights from first-hand experience — explaining how salacca is grown, the use of natural fertilizers, and the seasonal cycle of the fruit. You’ll get to taste different varieties of salacca and learn how the villagers turn it into various products such as salacca candy and salacca coffee made from the seeds. After the farm visit, you’ll walk through traditional Balinese homes and join hands-on activities like making coconut oil, playing bamboo instruments, and brewing salacca coffee. These aren’t just activities — they’re part of the villagers’ daily life, giving you a deeper, authentic experience of how they live and connect with their culture. The experience ends with a home-cooked Balinese meal, served on a scenic hillside with breathtaking views of East Bali’s mountains and coastline. This is more than a tour — it’s an opportunity to connect with a living culture, support a local village, and leave inspired by the spirit of the real Bali. What to ExpectWarm welcome by friendly local guides at Sibetan VillageLeisurely walking tour through the village and traditional Balinese homesLearn about the philosophy of Balinese houses, the village life, and farming are all guided by harmony with nature and spiritual balanceExplore organic salacca farms, learn traditional growing methods and taste Unique Snakefruit VarietiesJoin hands-on workshops like coconut oil making and bamboo music — both rooted in rituals and daily practices that have shaped Sibetan’s way of life for generationsTry Salacca Coffee – caffeine-free and full of antioxidants!Enjoy a delicious local lunch or dinner with a gorgeous coastal viewGood to KnowEasy walk around the village and farm – suitable for all fitness levels13% of earning will go to supporting local charities in the village, helping to preserve the village, and fund a learning center for children in Sibetan villageAll activities are family-friendly and suitable for curious kids too
