See 360 degree views over Bali on its tallest mountain
If you want to climb Mt Agung with fewer people around you and far more local insight, this is the one to book. This private sunrise trek heads for the quieter highest summit section from Pasar Agung, and it’s led by official village guides who were born and raised on the mountain and have spent 10+ years guiding here. On a mountain this sacred, steep and poorly marked, that local knowledge matters. This is not a casual Bali sunrise walk. You start late at night at 1,525m, climb through forest, roots, soil and volcanic rock, and reach Bali’s highest point at 3,142m in time for sunrise. Before the hike, there’s a stop at Pasar Agung Temple for a blessing and safety prayer, which gives this trek a deeper sense of place than a standard summit push. It’s best for strong hikers who want the full Mt Agung experience, not just the photo. On clear nights, you may see the Milky Way and East Bali’s coastline lights on the ascent. At sunrise, the views open up to multiple Bali peaks and Mt Rinjani in Lombok. Because this is a private trip, the pace feels more personal and you have more space to take in the mountain properly. What to ExpectPrivate Mt Agung summit sunrise trek with hotel transfers from Ubud, Canggu and SeminyakLate-night pick-up, then registration at 1,525m before starting the climb after midnightShort warm-up and blessing at Pasar Agung Temple before the hike begins5 to 6-hour ascent through forest and rocky volcanic terrain to the summit at 3,142m via Pasar Agung Temple route to avoid the crowdsSimple sunrise breakfast at the topClear-day views of East Bali, several mountain peaks and Mt Rinjani in LombokIncluded gear: headlamp, walking stick and glovesIncludes entrance ticket, retribution tax and an experienced English-speaking local guidePasar Agung Route (Main Summit):Difficulty: Hard and physically demanding routeDistance: 5.1 km one wayElevation Gain: Approximately 1,600 metersDuration: Around 11–12 hours round trip at a normal hiking paceBest For: Experienced hikers looking for a tougher, longer, and more adventurous climb to the west peakLogistics: Early midnight pickup depending on location to start the hike around early morning hours for optimal conditionsGood to KnowA driver with basic English speaking skills will pick you up. Meet your host
Hi I'm Justin. The reason I started is because I like meeting and learning from new people and making new friends from around the world. Every person I meet is different and each has their own stories and lessons which I can learn from. Day in day out, I meet guests from different backgrounds and character, from good to bad, and as surprising as it sounds, even the bad ones have taught me lessons to carry forward.
Other times, it is like a life cycle, and I feel like I am in this cycle offering my help to them. For example, some of our guests who come to Bali seek self-solace. peace or solutions away from difficult and challenging times, and I would often share with them the experiences and lessons I have gathered from my guests in the past. More often than not, these advices have helped them find an answer or consolation which help them to move forward, and this is part of what I find rewarding in this job.
That's why even though I already have other businesses, I continue to be a guide and I do this with joy. I feel that my car is my "classroom" and I learn from people all around the world.
Even though sometimes I need to sacrifice a lot of my time and energy in this job, compared to my other businesses, I am really blessed to be able to continue doing this for the team, for myself, for the local community and for people around the World.
That is why with each team member that I recruit, I try to share these values with them and have the same high requirements and standards for them :)
