This workshop allows you to turn anything into jewellery! Go from a carved wax model to a piece of pewter product in hours.In this workshop, you'll get to learn the basic techniques of silicone rubber mould making, from the preparation of the initial model, correct sprucing methods, choosing the right silicone for the job to the art of rubber mould cutting and venting. You'll also get to know the different metals used for jewellery making and get hands-on experience melting and pouring pewter.What You'll LearnPick up the ancient art of lost wax casting technique first hand!Learn the many techniques employed in the jewellery industry, including 3D printing and wax carvingLearn the different jewellery polishing techniquesWhat is casting?Lost wax casting has been around for centuries and has been used since the early days to cast items such as weapons, sculptures and jewellery out of brass. It involves first, sculpting of a wax model, applying the right sprues, pouring an investment over the wax model, burning out the wax (hence the term lost wax casting), then pouring in molten metal into the cavity left by the evacuated wax.About Imperial SmithsterThe founder of Imperial Smithster, Johnne Lee, is a self-taught metalsmith. The technique of lost wax casting is a dying art in Singapore, yet Johnne is keeping the craft alive with his daring and whimsical works. Duration: 3 hoursAll materials are provided and the students will get to bring home a final cast piece in pewter.
