Wildlife walk to spot rare langurs & explore Da Nang's hidden nature spots
This wildlife experience is perfect for nature lovers who want to see a rare side of Da Nang that most travellers never get to see. While the city is best known for its white sandy beaches and resorts, you’ll head into the nature reserves of Monkey Mountain and Marble Mountain in search of the elusive red-shanked douc langur - one of the world’s most beautiful and endangered primates. With only around 2,000 individuals left in the wild, this is their last refuge. With your expert naturalist guide and wildlife photographer Luc, you have a good chance of spotting them. He's one of the top red-shanked douc langur experts, and has worked closely with NGOs in Da Nang to protect the species and their habitat. He knows their favourite hiding spots, recognises different families, and understands their behaviours intimately. You’ll also get up close to rare birds (Luc is an avid birder too!), reptiles and other wildlife. This full day experience also brings you to explore a former US military base hidden deep within the nature reserve, before heading to Marble Mountain in the afternoon, with its quiet beauty, ancient caves and panoramic views of Da Nang’s coastline. If you usually skip big group tours and prefer experiencing nature in a quieter, more meaningful way, this is exactly the kind of trip you’ll love. What to ExpectObserve critically endangered Red-shanked Douc Langurs in their natural habitat – one of the world’s most endangered and beautiful primatesLearn about conservation efforts to protect the Red-shanked Douc LangursBirdwatching with a naturalist - look out for species like the White-crested Laughingthrush, Crested Serpent Eagle and moreVisit a former US military base hidden deep within Son Tra Nature ReserveExplore the dramatic caves and peaceful pagodas of Marble MountainPrivate guide, comfy air-conditioned car, and a delicious lunch (vegetarian-friendly!) all includedGood to KnowThis is a private trip, so it's just you, your group, and the guide - perfect if you want a peaceful experienceEarly start ensures better chances of spotting wildlife (especially the langurs)Entrance tickets, water, coffee, lunch, and spotting scope are all includedBring binoculars or camera if you have them - your guide loves helping capture great shotsLight walking is involved but nothing too strenuous - suitable for most fitness levelsYou’ll be doing moderate walking on paved and forested paths. The terrain is not too challenging, but we recommend comfortable shoes and sun protection. The early part of the day will involve quiet trekking through the reserve to spot wildlife, with plenty of breaks. Marble Mountain exploration may involve climbing some stairs.
