Discover quieter southeast Halong & its hidden lagoons with a lighter footprint
While most overnight Halong cruises follow the busy Titov Island–Sung Sot Cave circuit, this cruise heads into southeast Halong Bay for a quieter look at the landscape. Kayak through the secluded lagoons of Ba Ham Lake, then choose between archaeological Tien Ong Cave and Cua Van Floating Culture Center by kayak or traditional rowing boat–giving you a quieter side of the bay.The experience also feels more rooted in Vietnam than the typical onboard program. Named after Au Co, the legendary mother of the Vietnamese people, the ship carries this heritage through traditional symbolism and handcrafted wooden interiors by artisans from Hue, Vietnam’s former imperial capital. Cultural activities go beyond the usual cooking demonstration with a guided tasting of three traditional Vietnamese rice wines, revealing not only their distinctive flavours but also the regional origins and the customs behind how Vietnamese people drink together. This is also a plastic-free cruise, eliminating single-use plastics onboard to reduce waste in Halong Bay’s sensitive marine environment. Choose this if you want to escape the standard tourist circuit, travel with a lighter footprint and experience more of Vietnam’s stories, craftsmanship and traditions. What to Expect2D1N join-in cruise with overnight stay in an air-conditioned ensuite cabinCruise through southeast Halong Bay with lunch served onboardKayak in the Ba Ham Lake areaSunset happy hour on the sundeckJoin a Vietnamese spring roll Masterchef competitionGuided local rice wine tasting in the eveningOptional night squid fishingSunrise Tai Chi sessionChoose between Tien Ong Cave or Cua Van Floating Culture Center on the second morningGood to KnowHotel transfers from Hanoi Old Quarter are available as an add-onPlease note that the shared transfer between Hanoi and Ha Long Bay may include 1–2 short roadside stops along the way for restroom breaks, coffee/snacks, or stretching. Nam started his cruises back in 2012 with a simple idea: to share the beauty of Halong Bay while doing right by the environment and local communities. Nam and his team have worked hard to cut down on plastic waste—swapping out single-use items for reusable alternatives, and even offering bamboo water bottles in every cabin. He’s also behind ongoing clean-up efforts and partnerships that support both the bay and nearby villages. His thoughtful, steady approach has helped Bhaya grow into something more than just a cruise—it’s become a part of the place.
