This is a really special performance, that combines Vietnamese folk songs, storytelling and living history all at once. It’s an intimate and moving journey told through sound and storytelling — using clay instruments made from traditional Vietnamese pottery. Yes, actual jars, pots, and vases are transformed into drums, strings, and gongs, each one carrying the spirit of the earth and the voices of generations past.What makes this show extraordinary is the heart and research behind it. Over 12 years, the artists quietly pieced together forgotten folk melodies from Vietnam’s ethnic communities. One Hà Nhì song was even found in a French museum archive; when no one could understand the lyrics, a 90-year-old elder stepped in to translate it, bringing the song back to life on stage. This dedication runs through every part of the show, giving you a rare glimpse into Vietnam’s cultural soul.The performance is non-verbal, emotionally rich, and anything but touristy. You’ll hear the rhythms of daily life, the echoes of mountains and rivers, and the songs of Vietnam’s many ethnic groups — all expressed through clay instruments crafted by the artists themselves.Before the show, you’ll see a small exhibition of the instruments and artworks. Afterward, there’s a chance to meet the performers in a casual, welcoming setting.
