Your host, Moon Mama, is a university research centre administrator by day, home chef and wine maker by night. And at all times, she’s a proud mother of two—and an affectionate “Mama” to countless nieces, nephews, and new friends from around the world. It all began when she hosted her daughter’s friends visiting from the Philippines. One shared meal turned into many, and soon, opening her home to travellers became her favourite way to connect across cultures—one dish at a time.

Step into Moon Mama’s cosy kitchen and roll up your sleeves to cook Vietnamese comfort food just like she makes for her own family. The menu changes with the seasons to ensure the freshest ingredients, but a sample spread might include rice with caramelised fish, shrimp simmered in coconut juice, a crunchy salad, fresh spring rolls, and a tangy sweet and sour soup. Expect bold flavours, cosy recipes, and a whole lot of heart—all while Moon Mama hums her favourite folk tunes and might even offer you a taste of her homemade wine.

  We focus on everyday Vietnamese family dishes, not signature noodle dishes like phở or bún bò. This means you’ll learn recipes that are easier to recreate at home, using accessible ingredients.
