Slow down on a peaceful night floating on Cheow Lan Lake
This Cheow Lan Lake option is great if you are looking to relax and enjoy the lake atmosphere. It does include two boat rides which are focused on enjoying the views rather than wildlife sightings. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy water activities near the rafthouse such as swimming and kayaking.The included afternoon trip takes you past Khao Sam Kloe, often called the Guilin of Thailand, then on by bamboo raft and a short forest walk to Coral Cave. Inside, the limestone formations look like underwater coral, and there are marine fossils estimated to be 250–400 million years old.The private capsule room is simple, with a fan and lake breeze at night, and the 3 home-style meals are a real highlight in guest reviews. This setup suits backpackers who don't mind the buzz and enjoy mingling with fellow travelers.Mealtimes: Everyone eats together on the same schedule, so the shared living space gets busy and lively at meal times as guests gather to eat as a group.Language barrier: Your guide will be a local long-tail boat driver/staff member with basic English. They can handle simple instructions and basic info, but don't expect detailed explanations about the area or sharp-sighted wildlife spotting.Park fees: Khao Sok National Park entrance and pier fees aren't included in the price — budget roughly 540THB per adult and 270THB per child, in cash only. Rates can shift based on park policy, so bring enough cash to cover it.Crowds in high season (Nov–Mar): Expect to be part of a larger group. Since the lake only has a limited number of trails and caves, day-trippers and overnight guests all end up exploring the same spots.Jungle trek: The trail crosses streams in places, so wet shoes are likely. Leeches are common too, especially after rain — closed shoes and high socks are strongly recommended.The itinerary may change or be canceled depending on local conditions and weather.There is only one round of included boat transfer per day, and guests will need meet up at 10:00 a.m. nearby Chiew Lan Lake entrance (see the meet up point below).
